RE: availability

Thank you all for your replies, both public and private. As I said above, this is more of a daydream about a class 8 B-unit than a serious inquiry.

If we decide to proceed with a class 8 B-unit, the next step would be to run our current truck into the ground to pay for the next truck. If we decide to not proceed with a class 8 B-unit, the next step would be to run our current truck into the ground to pay for a different kind of truck. Either way, we continue to be happy in our current truck and hope to run it for ten years or more.

Thank you again for the replies.

RE: availability

ATeam this sounds like the next truck I want to get. I'm thinking about doing the same thing have a 18 ft sleeper and 12 ft box. We've been with Lea for 4 1/2 yrs and very seldom do we take more than 6 pallets, most of the time its 2 skids. We also do A&E for the last 2 yrs and very rarely do we get more than 1 skid of freight because all a&e is suppose to also fit in a single drom.

As for the future of Lea, we'll have to wait and see. It looks like our load potential will increase with regular freight because we will still get the exclusive use materials, ltl freight will become avail, and for our A&E hopefully with the addition of Logistics agents it will increase to where that is all we will be doing.

RE: availability

I'm with you, I see our potential business really increasing but I don't really see the fleet guys taking much from us since most all don't run Qualcolmn. That being said, I have every confidence the mothership will muck something up. Since i went to a 53' E unit w/liftgate, I hope to be used to bounce out of dead areas, even at 62% it beats deadhead. I guess we all will see;)

RE: availability

Phil I'm pretty sure Panther would put on any size unit you could come up with. They would just put the specs of what the truck can haul in their computer for dispatching purposes.

RE: availability

I had thought about doing something similar Phil, but, after a lot of years doing this, i'v decided that if i'm going rv'ing, i'm going to be comfortable doing it. So.... i'm on my last trip of the year as I type (RT Indy- San Fran-Indy). Been avery good year, and when I finish this trip, i'll park the truck in the yard, dust off the camping machine, and head for the Keys till about April.

And no, this not THE way to do it, just A way to do it. Just seems it only takes about six months or so to peg my fun meter expediting anymore.
