Heard an American Politics historian today on the radio talking about filibusters. Said in the past it was not uncommon for those doing the filibustering to have devices to handle the problem that eventually got the better of Rand Paul.

When pressed by the interviewer, he said, well yeah, they'd use catheters, as they intended to speak as long as possible and bathroom breaks were not allowed. One filibusterer, however, did ask for a break to be allowed as his "device" had come undone...

I'd love to see tapes of these guys who used catheters to see if, during their filibuster, their voice and inflection became rushed or tense, then suddenly lightened, while a slight smile of relief crossed their face...

The lengths some will go to to delay proceedings.

Although there is nothing PROHIBITING the REPEATING of the same PHRASE over and over I think it would be FROWNED on.

Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. If a vote is to be taken nullifying the Bill of Rights, I sure hope someone delays those proceedings.
