Phone with John

We all knew Rons was in the pipeline...

BTW...John was pretty "spirited" on the phone come to think of it..really good mood....LOL

8 months in the pipeline! And yes, had to ask if I could bring it on. If not, I would not have bought it. And kept checking before I actually closed the deal. I also drive it, so I don't want to be sitting around anymore than the next driver.

And John certainly doesn't want to be paying layover because of over populating the fleet. While it costs us to sit, it costs John also.

See you all at the EXPO.

Whew! Sorry i was offline and didn't see this whole thing sooner! I have been down in Nashville at the TEANA (The Expedite Association of North America) annual conference. It went extremely well. I am the current president and I was running from sun up to sun down, so sorry for my absence.

I don't have a magic formula but.....

I look at the year to date average revenue per week by vehicle size.

I look at the 4 week average revenue per week by vehicle size.

(some of you may have seen my wonderful graphs)

I look at the amount of freight being brokered out to other carriers.

I look at the number of "turn downs" that we are unable to cover for our customers.

I look at industry and economic data and projections for the upcoming quarters. As well we talk with our customers on an ongoing basis to get their feel for things and what they see coming down the pipeline.

July starts with a holiday and the shut down period. If we have 20 less units during that period it would have little net effect on the fleet. We still have to broker plenty of freight out during slower periods as we do not have a vehicle on every corner.

Bottom line is I manage the company on a near term and long term basis. I can not manage it based on a 2-3 week period and will never attempt too. The same being true i would not add 5 trucks anticipating a busy 2 weeks.

I have not changed anything about how I view the fleet, recruiting, revenue per unit, customer data, and how we adjust accordingly. It has worked this far for all of us. Sitting units cost everyone, including me. I designed it that way for a reason.

FYI - I will now board a plane with no wifi service

While I appreciate Johns explainations in these situations, and his particapation on a regular basis...I really think we as business people, contractors and adults need to realize that he is as "pro-contractor" as any company we have been with in the past and in most cases considerably more...yes his input here makes a difference, but do we really need him to cover our insecurities and back side on these kind of things....

We all contracted with Load 1 for a reason. There are those amoung us that waited months to get here, There are people with Load 1 that don't post here or even read here, but they are with load 1 because they heard from us on the road how John does things....

For me, I have no reason to question what goes on and why things are done as they are...My trust and respect layes with the same facts that brought me here to begin with...

Thank You John and the whole Load 1 Team....

As a Canadian who has no "effect" on you, (still shaking my head over that one) I agree with Dennis and believe my posts reflect that.

There is some that are not as close to the source as we are...and this thread may have settled any doubts they were having...the ones that read nd don't post....

I know what ya are all saying...and agree....

I did not just bring this to the surface just for my benefit but for the whole fleet....so the tranparency continues...:D

I specifically asked John before I posted this and he said no problem, put it out there...as he usually does...
