Phone with John

I spent about an hour on the phone with our leader last night and releasing this has been approved...NO State secrets...LOL

There has been buzz around the addition of 3 new sprinters coming online when it has been so slow....we discussed this I let John know of the rumblings ..like what is he crazy? *L*

What some might not know is....we have had 3- 4 CV's retired in the last time span and lost 2 sprinters this month...rookies that think they will find a better deal....good luck to them in their quest.

Well anyhow...John will address this if need be when he returns from Nashville...at a TEANA conference.

That's an hour of his life he'll never get back. Wonder how much Jameson he had to consume to recover.:D

I don't see what he would have to explain. Two of the sprinters were from an existing fleet owner and the owner posted that here on EO. John wouldn't add trucks just to be adding them.

I've added a ST that I'm going to drive. Yes Virginia, I'm coming back. It's at Taylor getting it's new clothes and QC now. Will be back in the saddle around 8/1 after my daughters wedding in FL.

Wolfeman is that the ST with the for sale in the window? I think Brian sold it 5 times already :p I dropped wombat off at belle tire yesterday so he could return it to "the yard".

Yep, that's it. I could have sold it 3 or 4 times just during the day I was at Taylor when I parked it. Wombat wanted it too. He called me when he took it over to Belle. It rides better than the Sterling, and has a National "throne" drivers seat. I hadn't driven a truck in 6 months and I drove it from near South Bend and it didn't bother my back at all. That seat is great!!!

Thanks for running Wombat over there.

Steve,

With all do respect and I don't know if I read it wrong or ????? But just because someone is a current fleet owner does not mean it's ok to just start adding units. I can see where some of owner operators not fleet owners were a little concerned here.

Again I mean no harm in my comment and maybe there is more to it than I understand but I'm all ears when it comes to learning.

Jason I agree...fleet owners should not have a blank check to expand their fleet at this time....just because they are here already..or replacing one unit for another...or an upgrade yes...

Not including you Ron.....your deal was sealed before the slowdown...

I'd like to think that a fleet owner would check with the powers that be but ultimately that's between the 2 parties. (Spoken as a fleet owner of 2 vehicles) :p

I realize that, and dispatch is aware that those are the lanes we run. It works best for everyone involved too. I get cross dock loads from the south, so why shouldnt I reciprocate?

Jason,

No harm no foul. To know, you have to ask.

No fleet owner has carte blanche. John controls the number of trucks in the fleet. No truck is added without approval. I had to ask John before I added the ST that I'm going to drive. Ron cleared his as well. Any other I had no knowledge of.

That said, I don't spend any time wondering how many trucks are added, how many leave, or how many are retired. John is in control and I trust him. That's all I need.
