Since someone is taking a long deserved break, and we will not have to read a 4 page biography on the answer.

Do you know what your Total miles ran last year worked out to be $ wise? In otherwords take your total dollars generated and divide by the miles.

You might also want to know the % was DH. I do have my DH just did not keep close enough tabs on personal/business.

Now how helpfull is this figure?

We have a spread sheet set up for each month.

It includes:
Date
Pro #
Miles
Rate per mile
Fuel sur charge
Extra charges
Advance pay
Ballance due
Pick up location
Del. location
Skid count
Weight
Fuel costs
Miles per gallon
Distance to Shipper
Type of Freight

It is set up to give me a running total for the month.

For 2006 I started in June ran till December 21st after which I went out of service so when I take my profit and divide it by the total miles I put on in the seven month period i get around 42 cents a mile profit after all expense. Was that your question?

The quickest, simplest way to figgure rate per ALL miles is divide your Gross revenue for yhe year by your IFTA miles run for the year. If'n you are under a buck fifty, you are not doing too good.

Van
Total 39,002
Loaded 32,323
$.72 per mile
I went home a lot.

Truck
Total 12,324
Loaded 9,594
$1.35 per mile

This included the trip home with the truck, the trips to get things fixed and trips made joy riding around showing off the thing.

Over the past decade I have averaged around $1.10 for all miles ran, which I certainly don't consider to be bad at all for a single axle straight truck doing expedite when I look in those trucking mags and see the truckload carriers are only paying .94-.96 CPM for people who own tractors getting 6-7 MPG and having 10 tires and 6 sets of brakes to contend with. If you are averaging over $1.50, you are doing really well provided you are getting adequate running miles. I am deeply saddened there will be a temporary break from 4 page biographies with three part harmonies... not! Mudflap

It's not bad but it's not all that good, before Fuel went crazy I was up to around $1.10-1.20 per mile for all Miles.

HMMM- never tried that, now that I finally am using Gross pay on Peachtree, I will have to figure that out. One thing to consider in calculating revenue ag./ miles is: is it enough? That is, if one runs more miles at lower rates (than say FECC- but they sit more), who makes more money?
I figure that I run 100,000 to 120,000 miles normally and I think around $1.10 per mile. After using an estimate for DH, the number rises to $1.25?
If I were to use gross pay, the number rises. Using IFTA miles and gross pay- seems that is the only way one gets up to $1.50: I don't care who you run for. Teams for FECC white glove, could obviously do better.

I have a DR Unit leased to FDCC and we run as a team.

Here are my numbers for 2006:

129646 total miles

82092 loaded miles

760 average miles per run

$2.13 average for loaded miles

$1.35 average for all miles

$175174.84 gross for the year

241 Total days on the road

We ran a little more than last year made a little more than last year too, average per mile is up slightly from last year.

I ALSO HAVE A DR-UNIT WITH FEDEX CC. HERE ARE 2006 NUMBERS; (TEAM)

TOTAL MILES - 116,649
AVG. RUN - 677
REVENUE - 186,799
AVG. LOADED - 2.32
AVG. ALL - 1.60

I WAS OUT FOR SURGERY, HAD TO HAVE REPLACEMENT DRIVER FOR SEVERAL MONTHS OR WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THIS YEAR.

Mine is just DR and I also had surgery last year with drivers in the truck, if we had been in the full time revenue would have been higher.
