I didn't see your apology until after I posted. Sorry about that. I based my writing on what was written prior to your apology post.
We all can have a bad day, and I need to type faster.

Yes I understand your theory if your just hiring percentage based drivers and not doing a lease purchase. I really do understand everyone's opinions. Believe me I've heard enough. All I was asking was if someone would consider talking with me and hearing me out, but nobody wants to.

>When Pat or Tim or whoever it was
>called the other night I was driving in a blinding
>thunderstorm with tornado warnings and couldn't talk. I even
>told him that. He said he would call me the next morning and
>I told him I wouldn't even consider them again because they
>did treat us right even though we didn't go to work for him.

Apology accepted.

In the above post of yours, I'm left questioning your meaning. Why would you post a statement saying " I wouldn't even consider them again" when you know how you were treated the last time you had dealings with Pat.

I remember when you talked to Pat Hopkins about driving for him. Since we live in the same state, he called us to ask if we knew you and could give a reference. Obviously we did not know you and gave no reference. If you had done your homework on FDCC you would have known White Glove Division does not allow dogs in the trucks. Didn't you want to be a WG team? All of Pat's trucks were and still are WG. Did you not show up with a dog that you failed to mention to Pat? Had he known about your dog prior to your arrival, Pat could have saved you a trip. Pat explained he could not have a dog on any of his trucks. It was decided that arrangement would not work for you, and in the end all parties thanked each other and shook hands. Then Pat did something many others would have never done, he opened his wallet and gave you a sizable bill to help pay for your return trip home.

As for the truck you claim was in such bad shape and full of roaches, I know the truck you were to go into. I beg to differ with you. In the three years we've known Pat and have seen all of his trucks, not one has ever been as you described. Yes, that truck may have needed to be cleaned after the last team turned it in. Guess what, any used fleet truck we have been in prior to Pat had to be cleaned to our standard of cleanliness before taking it out. Pat would have paid you to either clean the truck yourself or take it to a detailer since he didn't have time to clean it himself. You don't even give him a chance to offer to pay for this, yet you can post on an open forum how bad you think his truck was! Furthermore, why would this even be an issue that you felt so compelled to post? Afterall, you're wanting to pick your own truck that is not part of his current fleet, problem solved as far as cleanliness issues, etc! So, you got anymore beefs with him?

Bottom line, we can all see on this open forum how you show your thanks and appreciation to those who help you and do you right. You are pathetic in my opinion, but thats just my opinion, and this forum is full of them!

I have to come to the defense of Pat and Tim Hopkins also. If it wasn't for these two men we may have been done awhile ago. We have worked for both Pat and Tim. We started as percentage drivers with Pat Hopkins and then went into a lease purchase with him. The first month we were in the lease purchase a mattress committed suicide and jumped out of the truck in front of me and it was hit the car next to me or the mattress. It got caught in the drive shaft and ripped EVERY hose, wire, you name it it took it out from the sleeper back. Pat brought an empty truck from Columbus, OH to Elkton, MD and let us take that truck to make some money. Pat stayed in Baltimore with our truck while enough repairs were made to get it back to Columbus,OH. Pat let us use his other truck for about 30 days while the new team was getting ready. When it was time for the new team to start, the repairs to our truck were still not done. Tim asked us if we would like to drive his truck for a few weeks while he was also waiting on a new team to start. Only having the truck 30 days prior to the inciddent and being right after christmas, and just before tax season, money was alittle tight for us. Pat worked with us and we got back on our feet. Without his patients and understanding and his brother Tim's help we would have been out of work for 2 1/2 months with no income.

We may not always agree on everthing with Pat, but we have yet found the perfect owner, or driver for that matter. He buys good equipment and updates it regularly. The truck that was offered for you to drive may not have been spotless but I am sure it did not have roaches. We have been in or drove all of Pat's trucks and been in most of Tim's in the last 2 1/2 years and have seen no evidence of roaches or bugs of any sort.

Sorry if you fill like your being picked on. Your missing the point that everyone is making. All we all are doing is telling the FACTS.
If you want a truck to lease to own, you may to find someone that wants out of Expediting like I said in my post before.

Excellant post LDB. As usual, you get an A in the "simple, common sense, logic" department.

Dave, you have nothing to sorry about in your post. The sound of your hammer hitting the nail squarely on the head reasonates very loudly. All they had to do was sit back and see if an offer came in. When, of course, it did'nt they could have taken the high road and just said thanks for the in-put. Instead, they chose to reveal their character.

I keep hearing Cyndi Lauper singing "TRUE COLORS"

I have had personal contact with this couple and I also work for one of their former employers. If anyone would like the name and phone numbers of two of their former employers I would be happy to send it privately to you.

My theory is the same whether it's to be a percentage based situation indefinitely or a lease purchase. If I'm keeping the truck and just putting in drivers I want the 3 nice $42k trucks to diversify my situation. If one truck goes down for whatever reason the other two trucks keep things going at least covering expenses until the third truck is back online. If I'm doing a lease situation it's very similar. If one truck doesn't work out the other two can carry things until other arrangements can be made. I truly wish you well however I believe you need to set your sights on a more realistic target. Good luck to you.

As one who has been personally jeered and cheered in this forum I thought I might add my thoughts. It was I who called and talked to bernieh the other night and after stating the reason for my call was told that she was unable to talk because she was driving. I do believe that the weather must have been horrible (though she did not tell me so at the time) and that it caused a great deal of stress for her because the rest of her recollection of our phone call was false. The call was made because we thought that there was a chance that we might be able to help and at the very least it was worthy of a conversation. In hindsight, it is probably better for us that it did not go any further.
We have had many relationships with drivers, owners, vendors and carriers and as far as I know we have left very few hard feelings. We try to remain friendly with all we come into contact with including when circumstances cause parties to move on. It seems this was not the case with bernieh, though we were not aware of it till now.
It has been an interesting experience following this forum from the time we were told that bernieh was looking for help to when we were called and told that we had become one of the topics of conversation. Much more exciting than watching reality TV.
Good luck to all, Be Safe.

This thread is now locked. There is no need to let this discussion go any further.

Let's remember that if you post something in an open forum, people are going to comment!!

That's the nature of an open forum. Insulting everyone who answers, and indeed the forum itself is not a way to get help.

This topic would have best been suited for an ad in the classifieds. You would have a better chance of getting a response there, with no involvement from our helpful members.

Best of luck.
