old conway-now drivers

It seems to me people have a something against p2 but then you have drivers who have nothing but good things too say.
well if your unhappy with the things going on there go somewhere else
was going too go with p2 at first but choosed fdcc
and i am glad the choice i made
granted there are somethings that drive me nuts about them but
i think like with every company you need too take the good with the bad
but also it seems that their are certain dispatchers that like too give the drivers a hard time but also the drivers need too be friendly and professional when dealing with dispatchers

i know whenever i call in or dispatch calls me im very nice even though i might have a bad day or what not or they have irrated the heck outta me i wont take it out on them thats not professional
(sorry about spelling havent ha my coffe this morning yet)

but i have had in the past to deal with dispatchers who were rude and not willing too help me like i thought they should have
so i just called back and dealt with someone else and let that person know what was said and how i felt and next time i got that person i was nice or asked too speak too someone else

but as for dispatchers coming over the qc or qual com and busting my chops about something
me personally i wouldnt stand for it and contact someone who could deal with it

but has talked with alot of drivers out there before the conway buy out and half of them had more complaints about sitting and what not
but these are the drivers who wont take that small run but rather sit and complain and whine how they dont get runs waiting for that golden one so they turn downed 6 offers waiting for the one good one
i know there are certain areas that are packed with p2 trucks and cc trucks and have talked too some drivers and they have sat there for lke 40 some hours and turned down like 10 loads just because it didnt pay them great money

i sat for 38 hours one time and there was like 15 trucks ahead of me they offered me a short run i took it and got a great great paying run
so im done rambling on

i think its sometimes drivers fault for sitting but i know thre are dispatchers out there that dont like the owners or they have their fav owners and it affects the person just wanting too drive for them

basically what im saying is dont air your dirty laundry on a message board if your a driver or a dispatcher or what not about the company you work for it gives a very bad impression on how you are and how your company is

i feel when im out on the road i am representing not only myself but my owner and the company
the same is said for on here
if i were a first time driver looking too get into this profession and see people talking bad about a company i would think twice about going too them

there are things i have done or said in the past recently that i regret too a point and burned a major bridge and i know i cant go back and i regret so take my word for it

if you have a problem or disagreement with someone or a company step up too the plate and dont talk bad about them or the company on here contact someone in that company and discuss with them
if its not going the way you think it should then think about other companies out there
but rememeber this no matter where you go its never going too be the perfect place every company has their problems

sorry it was so long but once i started too type i couldnt stop
to all the drivers out there be safe and no matter how your day is going try too show the people who send you your runs and u talk to a little more respect
and too the dispatchers just remember sometimes we have been out 3 weeks or more and have dealt with alot of things that you normally dont see (bad drivers, traffic, weather, dot, not seeing our family, customers who are so not friendly
and just remember you get too go home every night.
so try and be a little more friendly too us even if we are not in such a great mood.

cause has been in a foul mood and talked with someone who kinda understood what i was going through and just talked too me and tried their best too help me out be it getting a better run or setting me up a run going back towards my home and it made my day just a tiny bit better. or the fact they have dealt with rude drivers all day and the fact i was being friendly and everything else has been told that they wish all the drivers they deal with was like how i was

again everyone be safe out there and keep them trucks rolling

;)

mudtruck,

Have you been reading the posts about P2 on this thread and others? I can understand a few people crying about issues' etc.. but if you look back it isn't 1 or 2 it is a slew of drivers. I too was originally going to go with P2, however I ended up with Con-Way, and yes I was unhappy and left.

I myself would hope this and other feeds would be a "lesson" for the lack of a better term for P2 to change it's practices and the way it treats drivers. Yes, drivers get upset and leave P2, yes P2 picks up another "x" amount each week that they try and teach the P2 way, some drivers will get upset and walk. Some of them finding a new company to drive for and other saying the heck with it. I feal bad for the ones that give up and walk away or think that is the way the industry is. I don't choose this life because I have too, I love to travel and be with my wife. We think of it as a paid vacation :). I think with that attitude it allows us to stay out longer, and do a better job. P2 had us to the point of giving up.

Just my few cents worth. more babble, but you can find one person's reasoning in this.

Off this thread a bit, I have stated in the past the amount of miles we get a week, this week we have done almost 5,000 miles!
I want to thank the staff at A. Blair for bring us on. They make us feal like family and hate to see us set as much as we do. I wish I had a tractor/trailer to sign on with them......

same goes for my was going to go with p2 way before i heard about eo
then looked into conway-now
but my point was alot of people on here sometimes says things that shouldnt be said on here cause it gives off the wrong impression about the company
if i had came on here first and the way everyone talks about companys
it would really effect on what i choose.

not saying everything people complain about is true or not your just seeing one side of it there are many sides to every story
like i said i have talked with plenty of drivers with p2 and with fedex and half of them had the complaints about sitting and how its everyones fault at dispatch or there are to many trucks in that area
then u hear how they have turned down load after load after load waiting for that almighty golden run in the mean time they turned down 10 loads which could have been money made too them and too the truck
and the fact about dispatchers being rude well lets see you deal with 50 or more drivers whining and complaining and giving the dispatchers a hard time after awhile it drives them nuts
same goes for drivers dealing with everyday examples

but im not going to take it out on someone else just cause i have had to deal with drivers not seeing me cutting in front of me roadrage customers upset that you want your truck loaded a certain way or what not
but thats life i guess

my point was also if you have someone there busting your chops about something or doing things u think are wrong then call someone and tell them or dont deal with that one person

again like i said have said things and done things in my past burnt some major bridges and cant go back am i sorry for how i reacted and did what i did to a point can i change it no but i can go on and try to work with it

Yup, I see what you are saying there. I do agree with you. One item to notice is the P2 personell postings. I have very mixed fealings about that. Scootr posted personal info about me on this forum. That kinda bites...

But, nuff said. You keep it safe out there and most of all have fun and enjoy the road!

BTW,

One thing I said in a previous post was if your at P2 and that is the way you like to run your business and your happy with it, then that is the place for you.

I personally do not like to be babysat, as I am an adult and am capable of doing my job. As stated by others, I was out of college before most of P2's dispatchers were even a twinkle in their daddy's eyes.

If your happy where you are then life is good, if not do as I and others have done and move on. There is alot of freight out there...

Man, I'm even thinking this thread is starting to get old :)

This is still going on?

So I am trying to read all of this and I just went to the bottom of the thread and read this; "I personally do not like to be babysat, as I am an adult and am capable of doing my job. As stated by others, I was out of college before most of P2's dispatchers were even a twinkle in their daddy's eyes."

Well I agree with that to a point, I feel that the reason many companies take a hands on approach towards the drivers is that a company can not or should not have to do anything to watch any driver but has to with the mentality that some have. This and other recent threads illustrate the issue I am speaking of.

I simply mean that it maybe a pain in the a** when you get dinged by the QC but it may have been that the company just does it for everyone with no exceptions. it maybe difficult enough to train dispatchers and with a company that has more than 20 trucks, the dispatcher will need a long time to figure out who's who and what they are capable of doing. I know that good people are hard to find and many don't get a grip on either end, so it is, like I said, easier for the company to just treat everyone the same.

OK, I am done rambling.

Some take it personally but fail to realize that some of it is automated. Especially if you are running behind based on the company's speed and time setting to the destination. You may be thinking a 60 you may have plenty of time, but the computer is set for 45,47,50 or whatever.
With regards to the rest of thread, it was addressed by a representive of Panther in another thread. Nothing to add that hasn't been said already.
Rock on!

Respect for all of you on your oppinions,
This is my second post on 3 years, but I can not longer hold my desire to express my oppinion in this great forum debate.

1.- I worked for tri-State and only God and I know why I quit.

2.- I worked for CTX, and only God and I, know why I quit.

3.- I worked for Panther II and again, only God and I, knows why I quit.

Sohould I go on and on? good.

Then, I went to the only logical choice at that time and contracted with Con Way Now, let me tell you that I was rejected, not becouse my driving record, but age of my truck (van). Then I went to the office of a fantastic person (No names please)and after a stating my case, I whas inn. To me that was fantastic, I had found a new home, after a little while I got to know every one that worked for that organization, from the receptionist to upper level management, and you know what? every one make me feel that I belonged and be a part of a team, not just a number, but a name to be remembered by most of personnel working for a great organization. I used to go to H.Q. and when inside, all of them called me by my name, do that make you feel good or not? It did to me.
What is the point?, many of you may ask, my point is I do not care who or whom and what company you are working for or with, what make a company great and separate it from others, is the people working for them internally. Their professional attitude, their own desire to excell with a particular touch of careness, remebering and calling every driver and o/o by their names to me, that is what makes a company great. I am sorry thet Con Way Now does not exist any longer, I wish I have every one's phone number to call them and say, Thank you for the way you treated me, for the respect you granted me, and to make me feel that I belonged and to be part of a great company. A great company that only dedicated and goal orinted people had the desire to excell to do and continue to do bussiness in a daily bases, and that is what they did best. An A.. kisser? not me, I got out for personnal reasons before the fiasco sell out to the aquired company, and if I may add, I am contracted with another great company now.
A final note, and to avoid any guesses.
My name is:
Juan Rivera.
[email protected] is my E-mail.
some of you had seen my buy or sell adds for trucks on this great community board, if any of you want to reply, (Constitutional right) feel free to do it, if you want to talk to me:
Here is my cell P/N 313 347-3378 and it is for real.
God bless us all, ant to the ex-Con Way Team, call me or p/E-mail if you feel like it, 2Mplus? An appology is in place if I offended any one's feelings. Not my intention, JMHO.
Have yourselves a great day, a fine ride and be safe.

that drives me nuts your driving down the road you get a message and its running late.
so what do you do stop and type which makes you lose time, dont answer which sometimes gives you service failure.
or when we are in traffic i put it in and even before it sends it you get dinged, that drives me nuts.

and majority of the times we get them we are not even running late
we have gotten like 10 of them on one run for whatever reason and we still got too the customers a day or two before the delivery times,
then you question dispatch and they say its all computerized i just laugh

seeing how this is my first time on here kinda strange i ran into someone i once worked for and seeing some of the things this person that has posted and knowing what truly has happend glad i got away from them and with a new owner who is 100 percent the opposite what i had too deal with.

is in a brand new 2006 western star,has a great co-driver/owner
who has in fact has given me the chance to be more invovled with this truck then before.

but still has been and around this buisness a long time and has never quite seen what i did with this owner.

but i guess sometimes you just need a stepping stone to get somewhere better.

seeing things posted on here and knowing how it went just makes me laugh.
best of luck everyone

If as you state, that you are days ahead of schedule, call the team leader and tell them to manually turn it off. I would think that is a rarity as we have never had that happen. I mean in years that has never happened.

not sure about that one.
or i remembered this one you get a message and like 2 secongs later u get like 2 more asking if your there.
i think that was a little much about gettin 10 running late ones
but from what i understand is the computer goes by if your not at a certain point at a certain time thats when it sends one out.

i have asked them what time i need to checkout too make sure im on the road to get too the pick up they tell me a certain time but like the qc goes off about 10 mins earlier than what was told

its nothing that bad but sometimes it gets irrating when u get a message an if u cant answer it it like a min they send messages over asking if we are there everything ok where
but its hard to try and type and drive so i just call them an ask for the dispatcher and let them know

and they are like oh ok sorry about that

to happen.

News flash, there are people in this business who have poor time management skills, poor self discipline, poor attitudes and poor anything else you want to name. In a fleet the size of Panther's there are quite a few of them. Dispatch can't always know which are which so they have to work based on the lowest common denominator. If you aren't one of that group it means you get beeped when you don't need to be beeped.

It also means when they've just had to deal with some idiot driver for 10 minutes on what should have been a 90 second call and you are the next call they are going to be frustrated and short at times. GET OVER IT! If you aren't one of the idiots then it isn't you specifically it's the overall stress of the job and nothing personal.

Just in case anyone isn't aware, here are a few things you should know. Panther is a very large company. Very large companies use many many computers. Computers are stupid, even more stupid than the stupid drivers who are the reason for the problems under discussion. The stupid computers don't know or care who you are. The stupid computers trigger certain events like wakeup beeps, checkpoint beeps, etc. that are going to be annoying. All that is programmed into the computers in response to the stupid drivers.

News flash 2 Stupid drivers are always going to be with us. There are very few of them but they are out there. Annoying beeps are always going to be with us. Annoying calls are always going to be with us. The only thing that will change that is eliminating any stupid drivers so there can never be a service failure due to driver error. That will never happen. That means we all have to deal with the automatic computerized babysitting required by the stupid drivers. It also means we have to deal with the sometimes abrupt and rude state the dispatcher is in thanks to the stupid driver who dealt with them before we did. Once again, GET OVER IT!

My point is that when there are well over 2,000 people, in this case drivers, there are a few of them that don't give a you know what about anything other than where's my money and how soon can I get it for the least amount of work. They have no company pride. They have no personal pride. They force the company to babysit and the rest suffer the annoyance of it. Rather than being insulted by being babysat just realize it isn't personal it's business. Get over it from a personalized standpoint.

oh i never thought i was being babysat i know alot of these messages are computer sent but its funny how if u dont respond to it the in like a min and next thing you get is some dispatcher beeping ya every min wondering whats going on.
but alot of times they are wrong the computer knows you need to be at a certain point at a certain time and when your not it does it
at least thats how it is at fcc not sure with p2 or other companys
example
was at the customers a day early couldnt get there out critical ceckout was say 730 i put it in at 700 we where there and before it got set at 705 it came we were past checkout those are the times i try too strangle the qualcomm but it never works

and with everyone from conway complaining about p2 if i had a chance i would still try and go work for p2
the gentlemen and lady i talked with was really helpful and the lady gave me alot of info

What are you suppose to care about if its not your money and how fast you can get it, you do the work dont you want to get paid asap?
Kinda hard to have pride in a company when they show no pride in you
