I just see dollars going down the toilet every day I am sitting. Straight trucks cost more then vans, so I lose more when sitting. I guess vans have the advantage of less daily fixed cost.
Gonna be a small settlement this week unless I get a OTR job. Just when It seemed I was getting a little ahead.:(

Knowing your situation and your location...

A small investment in a CV and you could run smaller loads to be home more often....just a thought...

Don't think I haven't thought of that. I still have a couple more years lease on my truck, but have considered the van thing, Plus a van is alot easier to use to go see tourist type things while on the road. I will be checking into a used purchase regular cargo, lease through penske regular cargo and even a Sprinter lease. Ceva has enough vans here right now, but two of the guys are nearing full retirement. I talked to one of the Ceva Sprinter drivers and he seems to be doing good, he does OTR also, but is usually home every other day, like me.
No more logging, no DOT...I assume, weigh stations? and a much nicer easier ride.

If you are not going to live on the road..I'd go with the CV..

Yeah, either that or maybe one of those Cargo Maxx vans depending on cost of course. Maybe Government Motors will get smart and develop a Sprinter like van that is cheaper:rolleyes: Anyways, still got a couple years at least to figure it all out. Just got call for some work outta here......:D

I hope you'r in the KW dealer behind the J.
if so , they are very good.
& you can call the Ameristar Casino ,ask them to "Shuttle" you in.
It's free , and the Buffet will make your day .
don't forget to take some change for the wish-well.

Yes, we went to the KW place behind the J. They are also a Hino dealer and the work needed was warranty covered. The casino sounds like fun. I'm hoping for a load out of here today, but if not then we might go check that out this evening. Thanks for the info! :)

EDIT: And now we have to have a pulley for the fan belt replaced and the part won't be here till tomorrow so we had to go out of service. We will definitely be shuttling to the casino this evening. :D

Hello chaps. I have run a load "all night" every night for the past nine days straight. I can't complain too much about the automotive freight. Everything I have done in the past three weeks has been automotive freight. I do however wish the rates would pick up a bit.

I am currently sitting here in Independence Missouri in a motel six waiting to hear back from my insurance claims adjuster about an estimate on my van. I ran into a doe last night while going 65 miles an hour. I locked up the brakes about 100 feet before the deer leaped out into the highway, but I still hit the back end of the doe with my right side passenger bumper.

I feel bad for the deer :-( but now my van looks trashed. It is still driveable, but it looks like a road warrior cargo van now. Shippers will take one look at my van and say "yup, he knocks traffic out of the way to get his loads delivered on time! I like that. Load him up boys!"

I hope you all stay busy riding the current wave of automotive freight and may you all remain profitable well into the new year. Keep on servicing the customers and pinging zipcodes faster than the qualcomm can keep records of your locations.
