Good Morning gang...yet another great day....I can say that because I am not sitting in a Wally World or TS waiting on a load....

Somewhat slow yet again eh?....
The pattern emerges 2 on, 2 off.....first 2 weeks slow, last 2 weeks it picks up....of course depending on truck size...John could confirm my theory?

I don't think Ken was complaining or whining when he said the above. Just stating his theory. Heck, he's been off for what, a month! Slacker! :)

thats exactly right , when its busy you move when its not you learn to be patient. sometimes even the biggest sales force cant get you freight. sometimes its just not there. lots of people talk of moving when it gets slow. thats not the way the game is played. i spoke with someone the other day about slow freight and sitting and tried to get that point across. i have no doubt in my mind that dispatch is looking for freight and have trust in that fact. when you can feel a sense of trust it make sitting in the slow times easier. if you dont then it weighs on your mind and puts strange ideas in your head.

on another note, we are sitting at the walmart in ellewood, ga waiting on a weekend load.
come on dispatch.

You can never have enough customers. Especially good quality customers.

A professional aggressive sales force produces those types of customers by prospecting. Prospecting for quality leads is worse than sitting waiting on a load.

Then they sell the company and product but never price. Price doesn't sell, sales people sell.

Order takers quote price not quality, company or product.

It never ends, get the name out, call backs, staying in front of them.

One day you show up, their having a bad freight day, bingo, time to deliver.

There are countless customers out there. Gotta put someone in front of them. Just so much you can do over the phone.

I don't think anyone said anything about anyone moving or not trusting.

Ken just stated his theory.

I just asked where did the progress stand.

This got a little blown out of proportion.

We have all been at this long enough and know the basics.

Absolutely Ron....one can't stand still...forward ho....never hurts to have people out there beating the bushes....

Like you I am NOT being critical of John or dispatch, they do a great job....

In this economy, shippers aren't looking for quality so much as who will do it cheaper/cheapest....and that is not Load 1....we are great at what we do....provide quality service for a quality price....

Prescription of the day....Patience......:)

Don't get caught in the buffalo stampede! !!!!
Specially with roller skates on.....and watch out for those cows - one driver had one land on his sleeper, so they're not as slow as they look!
I've had a b a d week too: total 385 miles, followed by 3 days in rainy Pa with a brokedown APU, and I'm not complaining, you know why? Cause it could always be worse. [And at one carrier, if a driver complained, it definitely got worse, lol]
Seriously - we know how it goes, and we know it'll get better, every week isn't a winner, etc, etc, etc - bottom line is, if we weren't happy, we wouldn't be here. I'm happy.
[I'm going to spend the weekend with my WildChild, lol, enroute to a Mon delivery.] Then I'm getting the dam APU fixed! :)

During the Great Depression, the companies that quit advertising and cut their sales force went under.

The ones that increased their advertising budget and sales force grew, even in those times.

Gotta have patience. I'm not one of those that call in or send QC messages bugging them. They know I'm here waiting and willing and I know they're lookn.

One thing we don't know is how many loads are bid on for us and not gotten. So they are workn.
