I am sure your grammatical mistake ( using the contraction "you're" instead of the correct possessive pronoun "your") has nothing to do with your obvious sense of frustration over Vick's time in prison for the slaughter of pets. Keep defending the indefensible.

So you make up a lie about me (and about Vick in the same sentence, actually) and post it trying to pass it off as a fact, and then charge me with defending the lie you made up. Wow.

Let me ask you this.... why do you feel the need to lie about someone, and then use that lie in a derogatory, demeaning or insulting manner against them?

Let's not hijack this thread and turn it into a racial controversy. For those having difficulty staying on the original topic, please start your own threads with racial diatribes. This thread is about a vicious puppy-killer being lauded by the president of the United States.

Now I get it: the vicious puppy killer being hailed and lauded by the President is actually the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles - right?
Because that's who was hailed, not Vick.

PS attacking minor typos is a common tactic of the frustrated losing side of an argument, and hyperbole like 'puppy killer' shreds credibility - and you're smart enough to know that.

The POS should have never been allowed to play professional sports again. It is a reflection of not the POS but rather the NFL and the owners who don't care what image they have just as long as they make money.

I wonder if he was a child molester or a child murderer, would the degree of the crime matter to the NFL?

Paying his "debt to society" in those cases mean more than in his actual situation of killing dogs?

I mean killing a dog is akin to killing a child to a great many people in this world and the excuse that it is a cultural thing (which also reinforces Leo's point) seems to be prevalent in not just the press and public opinion but justification of his actions.

Considering the level of animosity among the animal rights groups in the country, I'm a bit surprised that Obama would even acknowledge Vick's existance. Most presidents wouldn't have even remotely associated themselves with a sleazy character like Vick since their handlers are so acutely aware of how an emotional subject like this can affect their poll numbers.

Whether or not Vick actually killed any puppies or dogs is IMHO a minor point. There's no doubt that he financed, facilitated and participated in the repeated TORTURE of these animals for the sole purpose of entertaining himself and his gangsta buddies. At least killing these animals would have put them out of their misery. No doubt his street cred was enhanced also, since that seems to be an important part of his hip-hop lifestyle. Obviously Vick is a thug and a criminal, and probably doesn't have enough IQ to even comprehend the damage he was doing along with the example he was setting for the younger fans of the NFL. Sadly enough, the world of pro football doesn't seem to mind giving safe haven to convicts. In another place a bit farther north, Pete Rose must be wondering if he should have concentrated on football instead of baseball.

Actually "puppy killer" is not hyperbole. Where is the exaggeration in those two words? He killed dogs and some happened to be puppies. I was attacked in a previous post for a minor typo when I wrote "There is no white wide receivers"

Just to clarify my earlier post - there's no question about Vick's guilt of killing the dogs, because it was part of his plea bargain. But anyone that would use animal torture as entertainment must have some defective wiring in the attic, and has no business being in professional sports. About Vick, here is the problem, his profession is one that uses his animal instincts to perform - Football is a sport where brute force coupled with hard physical contact and in some cases no brains are really needed. To expect him to be 'rehabilitated' in any way shape or form is about the same as expecting Charles Manson to become a passive person who play Santa for the children at orphanages.

If Dog fighting is an issue for some, then it is justified. I would think it is not all because of the dog fighting itself, but what is forgotten in a lot of these conversations - the collateral damage. In this city, which has a lot of dog fighting, they take animals and use them as fodder to train the dogs as many know about. Sometimes these are pets they take out of people's back yards or cars and other times they get them from Puppy mills - this was where my beagle came from, he was to be used to teach the dog how to love blood. Cats are another thing that are used and I can describe some of the things that are done to them if anyone wants to really know. This is the real problem, not the fighting or killing of the fighting dogs.

The other issue are with the dogs themselves with the idea that they are safe (another sometimes Manson rehabilitation case), Pitbulls from a legit breeder who doesn't inbreed the dog may make a great pets (sister had one) but those who are products of inbreeding, well lets just say three shotgun blasts and four 9mm don't always stop them.

Yep the dog would not stop.

The 9mm shots slow him down but it took two shotgun blasts to get him to let go and another to finish him.

I should have added that this dog and others like him run in packs in the city, a main issue for people in some areas. It has gotten better since a lot of people would try to kill them when they see a pack, but still is a problem.
