Not really. He did precisely what Ken Burns asked him to do, which was to read the original "Nicolay copy" (Gettysburg Address | Exhibitions - Library of Congress) of the draft. There are five different drafts of the Gettysburg Address, and Burns had all of them included in his documentary. No one knows which version was actually given at Gettysburg.
The right heralded the omission to make Obama look bad, and did so out of sheer ignorance (not knowing about there being more than one draft) and stupidity (not bothering to even check it out, not even at Ken Burns' project Web site).
I should probably say something like you can't make it up, because, ironically, Ken Burns' project is entitled Learn the Address
