Smoking will be no more by Dec 1st.....that is also part of the plan...

And from past times of quitting, I can say that you will gain you're sense of smell and taste back real quick. One thing that you will notice as this happens is just how many things reek of stale cig smoke and odors.Everything, I mean everything, needs to be washed and wiped down to hopefully get rid of this.If not, those odors will also be a temptation, constantly reminding you of cigs.I've been there.

Strange thing is, I never ever have smoked inside of any of my houses I had.I didn't want it to smell like an ashtray.I smoked in the garage or outside. My ex hated that rule!.....lol..

Good morning!

Ken- is Judy going to quit in support of you as well? What I am saying is, when you go home, after successfully quitting while on the road, it could be a living hell to be so close to the cigs and temptation. When I finish up my supply of cigs, I am going to give it my best shot at quitting as well. This should be in a week or two. This will be real hard.

Between what is happening with Ken and my
Dad, It has really made me think a whole lot.

Really hoping for a weekend load today, really need one desperately.

In talking with Dad the other night, he tells me the doctor at the hospital says his heart is at 35% right now..not too good, I have a bad feeling God is going to be calling his name soon.I hope not.

Chantrix will be my drug of choice with a 12/1/ target..

Looks like I'll have to babysit this one for the weekend. But, according to the qc...babysitting pays well here at L1 :)

I hate to do it, but figured I might as well spend the weekend in a room instead of the van...with that one, 100# skid taking up so much space and all :D

Guido, hope you get a good run! Hoping the best for your dad as well. I know you two are close, be thankful for that.

Awesome! we need to start a support chain on this, as it is going to be hard for all of us...the normal daily routine being changed..I will try it cold turkey, as I have always have, but if it gets too bad, I will have to go some kind of patch or something.Any insight on what works the best, would be a help.

Delivered my TN load at 5:00am, back to the yard to get some sleep, and I'm wide awake at 10:00.

Good luck to those of you who have decided to quit smoking.

I'm glad to read that Ken won't be taking chantrix, because some of the potential side effects [mood changes, hostility, paranoia, sleeplessness] are especially bad for a driver.
Not to say he'd have them, but if he did, it's much worse, IMO. Even the most frequent side effect, [nausea] can wreak havoc on what we do for a living.
I hope you are aware of the potential for mood alterations, and will be alert for it, because the stories of people who just blew it off are worrisome, ok?
The reason there's so many drugs and therapies to quit smoking is that everyone reacts differently to all of them, so trial and error is the rule. Only side effects like nausea and constipation are one thing, but suicidal thoughts are something else - that' freakin scary!
Guido: the thing that works best is wanting to quit more than wanting the next cigarette.
Good luck to all 3 of you, I hope you all succeed, really.

Thank, Cheri! Just went 2 hours without one just awhile ago, which is a long time for me.Going to try and make the space greater between cigs as time goes on..Thinking of what I used to do to take the craving away...I remember Big Red gum...Pretzel rods..I also remember trying to light a pretzel rod and smoking it...at one time while driving..driving time will be the biggest challenge and hurdle without one.And I am also really worried about additional weight gain, as I am sure munching will come into play instead of having one. And to think this started out as a drunken joke 26 years ago in a bar.

You know, with some thought and effort, you could maybe kill two birds with one stone when it comes to having the munchies. Keep some healthy snacks in the van and snack healthy. Maybe that would that would curb the hunger at meal time. Let me know if it works! Lol....not like I need to be giving dietary advice...lol. Cheri could probably school all of us a little on healthier eating habits. I know Turtle can. He and I had a pretty decent conversation about recently.

might try e-cigs for awhile. just nicotine, none of the other bad stuff.

Thought about that. But then I realize, it's the nicotine that is habit-forming, right? And the habit of having something in our fingers quite alot during the day.

Otherwise, really hoping today is the day that dispatch is able to find me something to do!

Some of my stuff automatically updates, some doesn't. If I'm at home, everything there is set to cst....on the road everything is set to est. Talk about confusion! I usually wind up going to a "world clock" on the internet to make sure I'm getting everything right.
