Well let's see...
working for one of the pharma companies who makes a lot of anti-depressants, we were told during the phase III study for one of those hot selling drugs that these are not meant to be given to anyone under 21, let alone someone who is 10. You and I both know that these are psychotic or mind altering drugs and very few studies (long term) have been done with children under 21.
I feel sorry for the kid who was put on Prozac at 11 and now has hallucinations with leprechauns and giant dragonflies chasing them around. I think this is a serious form of child abuse, especially when the kid is acting like a kid and the GP is prescribing it for the kid because the parent is too lazy to be a parent.
My firm belief that we should take Medicaid and welfare money and put it all back into mental health services.
