Bible writers claimed repeat that they were transmitting the very Word of God, and if the 40 or so men who penned the scriptures were wrong they must have been lying, insane or both.
But on the other hand if the greatest and most influential book of the ages containing the most perfect moral code ever devised was written by decieving fanatics then what hope is there for ever finding meaning and purpose in this world?
If you seriously check out these biblical evidences you will find that their claims of devine inspiration (stated over 3,000 times in various ways) were justified.
The evidence of fulfilled prophesy is 1 case in point. Hundreds of Bible prophecies have been fulfilled specifically and meticulously often long after the prophetic writer has died.
Daniel the prophet predicted around 538 bc (dan9:24-27) that Christ would come as isreal,s promised Savior an Prince 483yrs after the persian emperor would give the jews authority to rebuild jerusalem.
There are prophesies dealing with nations andcities and with the course of historyi in general all in which have been fulfilled literally. More than 300 prophesies were fulfilled by Christ Himself at His first Coming. Other prophesies deal with the spread of Christianity, various false religions and other things.
There is no other book ancient or modern like this. The prophesies of people like jeane dixon, nostradamus edgar cayce and others are not in the same catagory at all and neither are books like the koran, the confucian analects. Only the Bible manifests this prophetic evidence and does it on such a scale as to render competely absurd any explanation other than devine revelation.
The historical accuracy of the scriptures is far superior to the written records of egypt or other early nations. Archeological confirmations of the Biblical record have been innumurable in the past century. Dr nelson glueck the greatest modern authority on isreali archeology said
"No archeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblacal reference. Scores of archeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or in exact detail historical statements in the Bible. and by the same token proper evaluation of biblical descriptions has often led to amazing discoveries."
More evidence of devine inspiration is found in the fact that many of the principles of modern science were recorded as facts of nature in the Bible long before scientists confirmed them experimentally like:
roundness of the earth IS 40:22,
Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe IS 55:9,
law of conservation of mass and energy 2pete 3;7,
hydrologic cycle eccl1;7,
vast number of stars jere 33;22,
law of increasing entropy pslm 102;25-27,
paramount importance of blood in life processes lev17;11, atmospheric circulation eccl1;6, gravitational field job 26;7.
The bible is A collection of 66 books written by over 40 different men over a period of2,000 yrs it is 1 book with perfect unity and consistancy throughout.
The individual writers had no idea that their message would be incorporated into the Book. But it fis perfectly into place and serves its own purpose as A component of the whole. If you diligently study the Bible you will continually find structural and mathmatical patterns woven throughout its fabric with an intricacy and symmetry incapable of explanation by chance or collusion.
The 1 consistant theme in the Bible fram genesis to revalation is Gods great work in the creation and redemption of all things through his only Son the Lord Jesus Christ.
Also the old testament is the new testament concealed and the new testament is the old testament revealed.
I am a 1 finger typer and this took a while.

In the end, man DID write the Bible. What does that tell you?
Even fallible men can get things right some of the time especially if they are supervised by someone who is infallible.
Christians dont claim that the men who penned the Bible were always accurate in everything they said or did we believe that the Bible is right when it claims that God guided these men in their task of writing scripture in such a way that the resault is an infallible book. The apostle peter said some foolish things in his lifetime but God did not allow him to clutter up the bible with any of those blunders.
All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness 2tim3;16.
We do not know how God accomplished his purpose of providing a totally accurate Bible but 2peter1;21 gives some insight;
No prophesy was ever made by an act of human will but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
The word (moved) in this verse is is also used in acts 27;15 to describe the way A great storm blew the apostle pauls ship off course across the mediterranean. the people on board could spend the time as they chose bailing or wailing but the storm determined their destination of malta. Similarly God guided the writers of scriptures to produce exactly the message He wanted.
I'm going to bed now Good night all

I totally agree with Aquitted that the Bible is THE greatest book written. But what is told about the writing of the book is lost in history. I cannot ignore that fact, as much as I like the book, and what it's meant/means to so many. But I am content in knowing that it is a great book to teach us how to live our lives, even if we don't hold dearly the religious aspect of it.

The Bible is not a book, but a collection of books, written originally in several different languages and translated in as many. The books of the Bible were written over several centuries. There are somewhere between 66 and 73 books, depending on the denomination of Christian religion. I am making NO comment on which version is correct or which translation is correct. I will not play that game, it is a TOTAL waste of time. The history of the Bible is an amazing story. Enjoy it.

When I say it's a book, I mean it's under one cover. Yes, it's a collection of many stories.

Was just making comments, not aimed at any one. The stories about how which books 'made the cut' is full of politics, back stabbing and love. How those books remained alive during the Dark Ages is worth studying on it's own merit. The history of the Bible is an entire life's study in itself.

I prefer the Reader's Digest condensed versions of both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Yes, the destructive power of a massive explosion is a creationary force. Just ask the people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Actually it is more factual. Do you even know the difference between a theory and a hypothesis?

I'm sure I'm going to hear it, either way.

A theory is not proven beyond a doubt. It is not fact. A hypothesis is an educated guess. It is not fact either.

I'm sure the Sun revolving around the Earth was once a theory.

OK. Who do you reckon these people were in history?

Gen.6

[4] There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Num.13

[33] And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Deut.2

[11] Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.
[20] (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophesy of this book, If any man shall add unto these, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book;
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophesy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy and from the things which are written in this book.
REV 18-19
I believe Billy Graham hit the nail on the head when he said "If God doesn't judge the U.S. He would have to apologize to sodam and gomorrah.
