New Logo timeline

Saw a few location and times messages on the c-link when the new logo program was announced, and that was about it. Has anyone noticed the perceived slow down on the new logo implementation ? I also wonder if contractor apparel is shipping with the new logo yet.

I think that what happened was that barely into the start of the logo change,they changed their minds.

I don't mean that they changed their mind on going with the red,but did decide that they where going to much larger logo's and turning the back logo on it's end.

This makes no sense really, because now instead of just having one division only (custom critical) changing logo's, you have the entire fedex fleet having to do a changeover.

So instead of us having a simple change where the new logo's would be in the same place, and very little shadowing, we are going to go with these HUGE ones that will leave the shadowing on the box.

The other problem that they are having is that with the new LARGER logo's you very well may have to reposition your placard holders which will leave holes that will need sealed up.

IMHO, this is not one of the smartest decisions that Fedex has ever made.

Fred Smith is not sure he likes the vertical signs on the back of the box. He does like the big signs though. Until all of this is settled we wait.

The reason for the big signs is the old ones were becoming common and people were not noticing the logo anymore. As we were told the signs no longer "popped" out at you.

The FedEx logo guy wanted to put signs on several different sizes of trucks to see what all was going to be involved.

The placards cannot be within 3" of any lettering which is a DOT violation that we would get. Lucky we have Terry O'Connell who caught this. The holders will be moved at FedExs expense instead of ours.

I never could figure out why Fedex never went to the reflective signs on the back doors, those pop out at you.

I think the reflective signs are pretty neat as well but for some reason they were not in the new plan.

I did some more checking on the signs and have learned a little more about this issue:

I have been informed that the Contractor Relations team will soon send each contracted owner a FedRed polo shirt and a ball cap for each of the owner’s drivers for which they have received size information. Drivers may order the new logoed apparel from VF Imagewear using the order information which is on the FedEx Custom Critical extranet.

I have also learned that the Purple and Red logo change was initiated by the management of FedEx Freight which is also Purple and Red. The color change decision was made to better align the colors to the type of service each of the OPCOs provide. A few prototype signs were installed and plans were in place to re-brand the entire FCC fleet when the marketing department, the staff responsible for branding, learned that there were plans in the works at corporate headquarters to refresh the branding of the entire FedEx fleet of trucks. The new logo was to be larger, the rear door signs were to be shown vertical instead of horizontal and the fonts of all other signage was to be standardized across all FedEx Operating Companies. FCC trucks were selected as the prototype since we already had started the FedEx Freight branding initiative.

Bob and I were among the first of the trucks to display the new signs because we were to be on display at the last Expedite Expo with the new Cascadia. We were later chosen to exhibit our truck, along with five other trucks from different FedEx companies, at corporate headquarters in Memphis. The CEO, Fred Smith, and much of his leadership team previewed the new signs and later decided to continue the re-branding, but to change the rear door vertical sign back to horizontal. We were honored to have Mr. Smith and many of his staff tour our new truck and pose for a photo with Bob and me.

I’m also told that the new and improved material has been ordered and an announcement is soon to come concerning a re-branding schedule at numerous locations around the country.

Great ! Possibility of a new truck in the somewhat near future, so i was wondering what the status was on the revamped logo. Good info. Guess I should talk to my contractor coordinator more often ! My next question to the coordinator will be regarding scanning and printing via the qualcomm in the truck cab.

There is a test in place using TripPak in cab scanning that seems to be working very well not sure if or when they will roll this out to the rest of the fleet.

Maybe if FedEx Custom Critical heard from more drivers they would look into this more seriously and realize it is needed.

Yes. I would love to be able to submit payment info immediately AND be able to print off the C-link as well.

We haven't been asked to go get the new logos yet, still waiting on a final decision I quess. Has there been a final decision made yet or are we still in limbo waiting to find out?

I have seen a couple of trucks with the new logos on. The ghosting of the old fedex logo makes the truck look like crap!Why don't they put a sheet of white over the the old logo after it is removed,then put the new logo on.So much for image?This new sign will not be allowed on my truck unless the old sign and ghosting problem is addressed!
