you have started very well on here .
your last few comments are way off the issue on hand .
let's not make it personal.
this forum is very good in helping Expediter to be safer drivers ,
it's about passing on experience , good advice ,and ton of needed Information.
it make us all safer .
this is not about safety ,
if you , or anyone else can come up with a reasonable way for trucks to be in compliance with this law ,
WE WILL BE .
with the new CSA2010 , getting this ticket ,or any other, regardless of the fine ,can easily send a trucker to the unemployment line . for doing nothing wrong.
it's not like we can fix it.
as for some of your latest's concerns ,
many of us , myself included , have came on here in the pasts , and will be the first to admit , that our driving skills have changed dramatically when we got the CDL , the training ,and a year of driving experience .
we do not drive our trucks the way we used to drive our cars .
This industry is Extremely regulated , we Del. safety day in and day out ,
and we do not miss our target in 150 mil. like some pilots do !!!

I've seen plenty of 4 wheelers stopped for lights out in Massachusetts and don't have anything even slightly obstructing the license plate . I have seen tickets written for a hitch ball obscuring plate . When I lived in MA they had safety and emissions inspections in the spring and fall . If you bought a used vehicle you'd better get a new inspection because if you were stopped for any reason they would check the number on the inspection sticker against the license plate . In MA the plate stays with insurance holder , not the vehicle . If insurance expires registration is revoked .

This is all about the money ,
here's why :
if it was about the safety , the vehicle need to be putt out of service .
the way it's set up , the driver will get a ticket , and be on his way .
don't expect to see cruisers standing by on the side of the road , waiting for the driver to clear the snow.

If they were NICE troopers they would help!! You can be sure the governor will be out there helping!!
But if a trooper ticketed a driver and let him continue couldn't the trooper be held liable if the snow caused damage further down the road ?

one day a smart trucker will take it to court .
one of my neighbor's in M.N , got a DUI about 3 years ago , after getting the ticket , he asked the officer if he can move the car 20 feet to the side of the road ,where the guard rail ends ,which the officer agreed to .
then in court the DUI was dismissed .
then in another court , the officer was personally responsible ,for letting a Drunk drive a car .

Steven3b: What kind of vehicle do you drive and how long have you been an expediter? I'd also like to know if you have a CDL and if so, how long have you had it?
Maybe I missed something in this new law but I wonder what the height limit is in regards to the snow & ice build up before the cops can give you a ticket? If there is no set limit then this could open up a bigger can of worms. I agree with all of you, this law is a joke & nothing more than a big $$$$ grubbing effort. I predict many lawsuits from people who fall off their trucks/trailers when trying to remove the snow & ice while complying with this new law.
