New HOS and teams?

Some teams Don't like to run 10 and 10. man are they crazy. it's going to hard on some teams now. Now beacuse your a team there making you drive longer. I thought this was to help keep our roads safer.

I agree that this new rule sucks. My wife and I had worked out a great routine...she just can't drive at night and I would rather drive at night than any other time. We have been running 5-11 (her) 11-5 (me) both AM and PM. We always knew who was ON or OFF. The same times everyday. Now the rule will basically force me to drive 8 consecutive hours so she can get 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper. For those of you looking at the above and saying NO WAY 6 on and 6 off We all take 30 minutes during our shifts to circle check and PTI or any other breaks. Se we actually drove 11 hrs for every 12 hrs of shifts. It worked. Now 11PM-7AM,7AM-11AM,11AM-3PM,3PM-11PM 8+4 and 8+4 this bites cause now I HAVE to drive 8 hours overnight. It doesn't matter if I'm tired and need to be relieved... unless we don't want to make our service guarantees!!

well, upon further review, anything less than 8 hours doesn't stop the clock!!! I guess that means full shifts, 8 or more hours. I for one would willingly pay a thousand dollars towards a class action suit against these rules, reason..the fatigue issue has still not been addressed with these rules...lets have some REAL drivers on these boards that determine our HOS and more importantly influence my level of income.
There is no way that these new HOS is better for driver fatigue. We as teams will have to drive at least 8 hours at a time.. consecutively..so our partner will be off 8 hours consecutively!! long hauls will mean working like a shift worker.. just NOT what was supposed to be happening. Once again I have a feeling there will be a return back to "creative logging". I think it will take some awhile to adjust.

Remember, this is the same bunch that eight months ago said there was parking all over for trucks regardless of where you were at.
It clearly isn't designed with safety in mind. Supposedly it is for the health of the drivers.
That makes as much sense as saying they want you in great physical shape because you might wreck from fatigue.

They could be looking at it like this. If you're on your 8 hour break, you can't likely be in an accident.

My Co-Driver has just informed me she will not drive 10 Hours,and will quit as soon as it is required.
I have been sweet talking her,but so far it has only got me thrown out of the house.

MAYBE THIS WILL WAKE UP EVERY O/O AND DRIVER OUT THERE, NOT ONLY IN EXPEDITIING BUT ALSO ALL THE MAJOR TRUCKING COMPANIES AND THERE DRIVERS AND FINALLY GET OUR INDUSTRY TOGETHER AND PUT THE $$$$ OUT OF THE MINDS OF ALL AND GET DOWN TO BUSINESS AND STOP THESE BREAUCRATS FROM TAKING MONEY OUT OF OUR POCKETS. ALL WE NEED IS 3 DAYS OF NOT DRIVING NATIONWIDE. WE WILL PROBABLEY STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE INDEPENDANTS COMPLAIN ABOUT THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO STRIKE, BUT THESE NEW HOS ARE GOING TO EFFECT ALL.
