Entertainment can be real or pretend. Entertainment is a personal matter. All great minds, even mine, need diversion! :p
Yes it is a personal matter. So quit yer raggin' on how people like to be entertained. This isn't about live and death, and the only things in life being important are those things that don't kill you. Most people don't want to go through life devoid of joy and laughter, because they only concentrate purely on survival issues. Sheesh, man.

If we got rid of garbage men, then people would have to make other arrangements to get their garbage to the dump. It would be inconvenient, as the luxury of having someone else take it away for you would be gone. But if you want to take away movies, then by definition you have to take away all story telling and the arts, because the movies is just one form of that. If you take away all story telling and all of the arts, then fully one half of the brain, the right side, would no longer be stimulated, causing it to atrophy, resulting wide scale if not universal madness, people would be acting and reacting solely from a combination of the logical, reasoning and critical thinking side of the brain, and reptilian section of the brain, and they wouldn't know how to creatively and emotionally resolve the issues that would naturally arise, so they would just start killing out of survival instinct of the reptilian brain and logic, and before you know it more people will be dead than if all the garbage men disappeared. You've got to think these things through.

I am not raggin on anybody. I am just entertaining my self playing in here.

I wonder though, our modern society is highly 'entertained' and I don't see much in the way of critical thinking or logic. Most of what I see is a bunch of brain dead vegetables who sit on their collective butts and absorb swill like reality TV and comic book movies! I contend that too much passive entertainment will also cause the creative half of the brain to atrophy.

I contend that 'active entertainment' is far better for the body, mind and soul.

I hire my garbage service, it is NOT a government function. I provide work. I am moving America forward. I am one of the 'makers' not one of the 'takers'! :p

No public trash collection out where I live. I hire a private service. I prefer it that way. AND, my garbage man sings so I get entertainment as well!!! :p

The Hulk movie kinda sucked, tho. So did Green Hornet. Green Lantern wasn't much better. Blake Lively made it watchable.

"Real Compared To What" Gene McDaniels. Oops, old Gene was a singer, songwriter and musician, that ain't real!

The OP was about Morgan Freeman spouting off. That lead to many saying that just because people are famous, for any reason, does not make them any more important than anyone else.

There is a need for entertainment and entertainers. It is ONLY a matter priority. Far too many people place movies and TV about feeding their families. They complain about the cost of health care, want me to pay for theirs and buy season tickets. They are losing their house but maintain cable TV.

It's sick.

But is Morgan Freeman real? I have never seen him in the flesh. Never probed his moles with my finger tips nor placed my hand into the wound on his side. Are you real? I know I am, because I think, therefore I van.

"Van" WAS real. I was on the fire department with him for 10 years. He volunteered at Glen Rock Hose and Ladder for more than 50 years. Right up until he died at 80. A REAL man!

No, it is NOT work, it is PRETENDING. PLAY acting. NOT REAL. Nothing is real in a movie. Movies are a luxury, with no real use. If there was never a movie made we would do just fine. If farmers don't grow, garbage men quit picking up or sewage workers stop, THEN it will have a REAL effect on life.

Baseball players, hockey players, etc, PLAY. They don't work. They also do not produce anything of real value. Food has real value, houses have real value.

Entertainment has real value.
