If there is price fixing collusion between the banks...I imagine you have some sort of watchdog government regulatory branch?

Yep - or the debit fee wouldn't have been reduced to retailers [who are going to drop prices in return, right? Uh huh....] but you see what happens when they take action: the banks [and every other 'regulated' industry] simply find new ways to return the profit they lost - and they're better at finding than the regulatory agencies are, absolutely.

BTW..If you think the fees are bad here...you should have had to deal with Canadian banking system....It felt like they had a fee for processing a fee....

American banks [and phone companies, rental car agencies, airlines, hotels, etc] do it too - read the fine print on the statements.

You threatening me?
No, I don't have to. You already know the rules, and the consequences of breaking them. I'm giving you advice. Advice which, if you are smart, you will take.

You are making it confrontational, you have no one else to blame but yourself.
Don't even try and turn it back on me. I didn't quote something from another thread to use as a confrontational tool. You did that.

You deleted that, really?
Yes, really. Thank you for stating the blatantly obvious, though.
Wow, someone needs some lotion for that thin skin.
Do you really want to discuss moderator actions in the forum, now? Is that what you want to do? I would advise against it, but we know how you are in dealing with sound advice. <shrug>

The credit union I use has three branches. They switch tellers around every couple of weeks so no matter which one you go to chances are you know the name of the teller and she knows yours.I remember one time a new teller charged me to cash my own check because my balnce had fallen below what was allowed.I got my money walked over to the manager she took away the charge.I also have had overdrafts on checking with credit unions often times if you you almost never do this they will wave the fee if you talk to a manager. Most times with credit unions the manager has the power to adress your problem then and there.

as far as them not being open to everyone you may want to check around.15-20 years ago this was the case. Now as more people look to get away from the BANKS a great many of them are opening up to the public. Also many times even the ones that are closed to the public will let you join if you have family that works where they are for.Navy Federal is one that does this.It does not hurt to check into it and if you can join one and do you will be very happy you did.

As far as the feds intrusion into the banks whats new.Look at the credit card companys that arbitrarily raise interest rates. So they passed a new law telling theses companys how they could and could raise interest rates. So everyone was all like wow This Obama is really doing what he said. What most did not know at first is that the government gave the credit card company almost nine months befor the law became effective. So what did the credit card companys do.Found all the loop holes and added new charges. Then just befor the law took effect many of them raised rates as nuch as 30%.So no the government is not going to fix anything for us.The only thing they will do is make it worse.

What many people don't realize is that the credit card and banking lobbyists are the ones who actually author most of the banking-related legislation.

Please, do tell, what rule would that be that you think I am breaking?

You are sounding quite desperate my friend.

Here's the problem turtle, you are viewing it as confrontational. Look at it this way, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I just want to be like you.

You'd think competition would be the rule of thumb...If enough people switched to say C.U's in enough numbers for banks to notice....

That is part of the Occupy Wall St protests, they want people to change by November 5th.
