and we let murders and attempted murderers go free to kill, or attempt to kill again. It's a circle argument that will NEVER end. There is NO 100% sure way, to avoid mistakes. Just look at the scum we are allowing to walk the streets of Detroit after they nearly beat a man to death.

Reading the story, this guy is not all that upstanding anyway, having sex with a minor and all. Bet you would like having him living next door to you if you had a teenage daughter.

You can only convict on the charges at hand. And besides, . . . (I'll shut up now.)

Zero mistakes!

Convict and Jail for ever if necessary. But never, ever, execute.

How do you intend to keep them from killing guards and other inmates? We don't want solitary, we don't want execution, what do you do? ZERO second murders is the goal. We NEED an answer. I hear reasons why not to do this or that, all good ones, but I NEVER hear a viable solution from those who don't want this or that for whatever reason. You can't have it both ways. There MUST be a solution. I am waiting.

I am waiting. Do YOU want that guy living next door to YOUR teenage daughter, if you had one? I certainly would not. But it's all good.

Are you using your computer from 15 years ago? No? Why not? Oh, because science and technology has advanced exponentially since then? Your argument is passable for cases such as this. Your argument isn't the same when discussing today and in the future only, and when it is mandatory to have positive results from two completely autonomous, independent, non-government labs.

Zero motor vehicle accidents is a goal too, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to be achieved - it's as unrealistic as the 'goal' you posit. If you "NEED" an answer, then pity is all we can offer, because there simply is no answer.
A goal that is more reasonable, though, is justice, and that's what our civilized society is trying for. It's not perfect [what is?], but it's the best compromise we can manage between restricting freedom and protecting rights.
As a civilized society, we have long since decided the risk of an error is inevitable, and we prefer it to be in the favor of a person whose actual life or freedom is more important than the potential [and often imaginary] risk to society. That's in the abstract, of course, as some of the people so favored are despicable - but they are still people, nonetheless. If life matters, that must include even theirs, because of those errors mentioned.

Perfect display of fearmongering, that.
"That guy" was 21 when he had sex with his 15 year old girlfriend. A violation of American law, certainly, but one would need a lot more info to determine exactly how criminal it actually was. Especially as the article points out that he is mentally challenged.
I've had 15 year old daughters, so can speak from experience. I couldn't shield them from all the potential predators, but I could [and did] give them every weapon to protect themselves possible. Namely: awareness, critical thinking, self defense, and self regard. They were [and are] nobody's 'victims'. Granted, that was partly luck, but it was mainly knowledge. It doesn't matter who lives next door.
