We can't feed semis, unfortunately. I really wish we could. But I am truly one of those peeps that will NOT set up a driver for failure. The market comes and goes, and drivers experience a wide variety of opinions of their carriers, but it is my goal to ONLY add the quantity of units and size of units that we feel confident will be happy with us and their income per mile and number of miles. We will always be classed as a small fleet. We will most likely stay a non-CDL fleet, and I know that's an unpopular position these days. But if it works for us, and more importantly it works for our drivers, can it be wrong?
We are currently a home-based business and, of course, that translates to low business overhead. We will occasionally add a van, sprinter (type) or cube until it becomes necessary to consider an office & warehouse.
We have a Canadian broker that is constantly asking when we will be getting into warehousing. Another whole set of expenses & opportunities.
But at least they're asking.
Well I might be running my van again. Either my wife and I will or I might try to find someone for it. I am getting ready to start a business that would cause a conflict of interest with my current situation so I wanted to use the van to provide a little income. Like you I don't want my business to factor account receivables because it is just way to expensive. If your interested just PM me pay, vehicle/driver requirements, etc. and I will look it over.
