Good Morning from foggy Des Moines Iowa...real foggy....

As for a good vs bad, slow vs good moving season, yes and no..we still see sometimes that are better then others, but not to thhe extent was did even 3-5 yrs ago...Industries as a whole are changing...Chysler said yesterday they will keep 3 US plants and 1 Mexican plant running at capacity during what would normally be the "summer shutdown".....

My year up to this point as been excellent as far as miles driven (less) and income (more) then at anytime comparing the same time periods over the last5 yrs....That being said, I look for next week ti be a bit slow, since it will start with me in Seattle Wash....but then again, i will take time to see friends and family out here in Wash st ,Portland, Oregon, and Rifle Colo....probably wont even consider another load until Thrusday or Fri.....

Good morning.....Today should be "put it back together day"....Old one was ready to pull last night...
Stripped pretty much the whole engine compartment of every hose and old line that had anything to do with engine and they are being replaced...The only way I won't be outta there at the latest tomorrow is if some of the new line don't get delivered today...The new Rad and hoses/ starter have been delivered.

Agreed..it is a concept that sometimes gets forgotten when we say slow, meaning we are not moving..yet our income (for miles driven) probably exceeds most others out there....thing is...we don't need busy...consistent is just fine...not moving, wheels not turning "feels" like not earning...until ya look at the "Monthly" totals...

I am by no means an "old pro" at this business with only 5 yrs in it, but it didn't take me long to figure out that no matter what i drove, I could make money if i ran it as a business and worked to use whatever came my way to my advantage....Starting in a CV, there was a time I wanted to go buy a new ST , but a good recruiter showed me the error of my thinking...yeap there was more miles available and more money to be made, but there were also higher expenses...My mentality and personality would never let me run team fulltime, not even with my wife or a family member..so it would have been solo...So I stayed in my CV...

Over the next yrs I did well, but after signing with Load 1, it became apparent that a CV was going to limit my income....hmmm...a ST again, nope..still not going to spend the price for a new truck and needed expenses...no sprinter...

For me the key was to drive something that would let me maximize the benefits of whatever tool was available to my benefit just as with any investment in any business...It took me a good while to move to Load 1, but once here, while everything was going great, there was a limit that my CV put in place....so with everything taken into consideration, we bought what we figured would work the best for us, hence the purchase of the Cargo Max...

That purchase has proven to be the best thing we have done in the 5 yrs in this business...

The jest of this rumble is that while we all have ups and downs in this business (as in any other) being with the right carrier and running the right equipment (something that is different for each of us) is key to our successes...As OVM said, not moving can make us think we are slow, but at the end of the month, and especially the end of a quarter usually shows the mistake in our thinking...Last yr with Load 1 was my best in the business, right now I have exceeded my numbers from the same time last yr. If things continue (and I have no doubt they will), this yr will become "my best yr in the business"....and believe me , there have been weeks when i had "Thought" the wheels had fallen off...but they were "weeks", not the month and not the quarter...

We, all of us I think believe we are with the right carrier, each of us are running what we believe is the right equipment for our personal needs (yea some will always want to move up) and over the year, Id be willing to bet that those of us that run as business people and make the best decisions we can at the time will have a great year....LOL..Even if you are just a "Vacation Expediter"...

You all have a great day, and be safe...and please, forgive my "rumbling"...:)

Cuz, I am figuring you are in Hopkinsville..if you are there overnight and if you want to take a little road trip for a great meal, head over to Paducah and a great place that is off the beatin path..Pizza By The Pound... a great italian place that is mostly only known by the locals...give it a try, its well worth the drive and even what it might do to your diet...Oh, if you get a pizza, make sure you ask for the "honey"...for the crust..mmmmmm good...
