I normally just do a 19 and make a decision based on that for a move on my own,,But i called yesterday for just an opinion and was told to sit tight there were 3 sprinters ahead of me in Laredo..so I stayed..I called today for a totally different reason and was told they had units in Laredo, ok but i am not calling about a move there...so..i checked 3 different cities and the QC list me as the only unit in each if i were to go there..Now i believe dispatch has the most up tp date real time info, but if i was relying on the QC to make a decisoion where to move and the answers between it and dispatch were that far off...then i need to qusetion something...

like my situation right now is not about moving to a better place for freight, i am in a decent area and can DH anywhere from here..i just don't get the kinda big difference in the # of units...when we make decisions based on that info...

I will put in a service request, might be a server or something messing up.

Service request has been put in.

all of the improvements should be great when done for you guys and gals. much of it is needed for you single drivers. it will help when you are sleeping. the hometime or directional dispatch is needed also or atleast a way to let dispatch know you are trying to go a certain way that will stand out. also when doing this request, a load going in totally the wrong direction should not be a turn down and count against you. some do try. like was mentioned when you are going home thats what you are doing. most of us plan hometime for a reason and taking a load going somewhere else and putting home time off for a week or so doest work. this happens also, along with i bid this just for you. for the most part, we dont care. a trip close to home if they can is great if not, when its time to go, its time to go.

the only other thing that we would like to see is a separation between solos and teams on the mac 19. although the times of more than one team in the yard are few and far between. that could change in the future though. lastly we have the 200 mi ability to turn down a run and not lose your position and we would like to see teams be able to extend that mileage somewhat. early in the day with a ton of trucks in the yard and a team is offered a 250 mi run that picks up at 1600 and we get dinged if we say no. this increase cant be overboard though. it could be abused. we do more than our fair share of short runs and dont mind as long as they pay like a short run should, but there are times when it would be a good thing. we are in no big hurry and know all is being done that can be done. dont know if a mi. increase is the way to go we all get dinge for that scenario but yo get the point.

all in all though, we are good.

Ya, I use it the same way. Kinda thru me off guard when it came back the way it did. Hope they get the bug fixed. *l*

Emailing it in to us just adds another manual step. It also has to do with how the system accepts the files. We really cant have them coming in to us in all different forms at this point. Scott do you have the newer style or the older style scanner? Check with Steve on this.

Ron, Sylectus is a pretty big main product, but they do have about 15 different modules/interfaces that you can add on. We operate almost all of these currently.

Kewel, thanks.

Like i said, i have to believe dispatch is dealing in real time info and the QC could be off, but for 2 days!?!? I know no one "inputs" that info into the system, it is my understanding it is generated by the system when driver end their runs and accepta new load, then the count changes...so sounds like the system isn't updating....

It's pretty rare when I leave the consignee before having scanned my paperwork. I'll scan it right where I sit or I'll move over out of the way, send my Depart, scan the paperwork, then leave. The only time I don't do that is when the QC is acting (pretty rare) or there is simply no good spot for me to sit for a couple of minutes to do the scanning. In those cases I'll usually find the closest spot, gas station, whatever, and get the scanning done and over with. Once I leave a consignee I want nothing left to do on that Pro. It's over, done, scanned, signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours, fuhggetabout it.

You can upload scanned images directly through Fleetvision (Settlements | Trips Missing PW). It goes directly into the system when you do that, same as scanning with the scanner. I've done that a couple of times for BOLs that won't go through the sheetfed scanner for whatever reason. I'll scan it on the flatbed I have and then upload it that way. I've also done it when I know I've scanned something via the QC's scanner, and the next day it's still showing up as missing. I'll scan it directly into the system via Fleetvision.

If the scan quality is bad (too light or too dark), there is a calibration sheet that needs to be run through there to recalibrate the scanner. I have one with me in the Sprinter, so if you see me and need your scanner calibrated, don't hesitate to knock on the van. They also have a sheet (probably several of them) at the shop. Next time you're in there ask to borrow one and run it through the scanner. Takes a minute or two.

I've calibrated, cleaned, and sworn at it numerous times. It has beaten me down. Honestly though it's near the bottom of my list of concerns at the moment.

Scott,

Many of the issues you have mentioned can be easily fixed with holy water.

Well, I've been here in the St Louis area for the weekend.. spent part of the day with some new friends I met at a little church, then went to see Ghost Protocol .. great movie, IMO, if you liked the rest of the Mission Impossible series!

Napping here at the Alorton Flying J again, hopefully get rolling in the morn.

Yes, the customer gets an automatic email from us when the paperwork comes in. They are then able to access it thru a link or via the customer web portal. 3am may not seem likely, but on a hot expedite it might mean that little extra to the customer. That little extra is what separates us from the rest.

Mea culpa - I haven't been real prompt in scanning after deliveries, partly because many places want us out of their hair as soon as we're empty, and because I scan to my laptop as well, and that is more time consuming [computer is tucked away when driving.]
I've changed the part I control: I'll scan BOL sheets ASAP after delivery, and rescan to my computer later, before turning them in.
Just a reminder: many customers don't permit trucks to remain on their property [even for a few minutes], and sometimes there are other trucks waiting for us to leave the dock, so it may not be possible to scan until we get to somewhere we can stop, and that isn't always real close by. [Usually, but not always].
But I will get them scanned ASAP from now on, promise.
Oh crikey - I almost said 'going forward' !
:p
