We do sort the units and look at them on the screen in the order of longest sitting LA time (available time clock). Not sure about a white board. The idea is to have everything on everyones screen right in front of them. If someone is booking a load for a truck, ideally you want all the information on that unit on the screen right in front of them. One of my first pushes is to get the InService sleeping. This way it does not reset the LA clock and dispatch can see a unit is sleeping and ideally what time he is back up. This way they can book and bid more effectively and not disturb a driver when he is trying to sleep. I really want the system to take the truck out of this mode and put back in normal service after a time period automatically. Again reducing chances of error. As drivers will wake up and forget to do it and then might miss a load or get passed over and be mad at dispatch.

We are currently working on a pretty extensive project with the managers and staff to completely look at all of our operations. From dispatchers, to bidders, brokerage, customer service, EVERYTHING. We are working on a plan to restructure to try and improve our service experience for both of our customers; the shipper and our owner operators. You will be seeing a pretty extensive overhaul in the months ahead.

As for software..... That is a frustrating thing at times. We do not have complete control or the ability to control all of the programming resources. We have made probably more enhancements to the software of any Sylectus user. Many of these things may involve trailers, specialized, truckload or brokerage areas and are things the expedite group probably will not realize. Workflow should be completed shortly. This will hopefully simplify and enhance the owner ops experience with the qualcomm. As well we have recently made more updates to scanning that now after one hour push the images up to us via cellular/satellite. On the downside, we are going to start monitoring the time from POD delivery to scan time. While most of our fleet is very good at scanning very quickly, some (OVM) are not as outstanding. As we push this competitive advantage to our customers we need to make sure that we are delivering them the images 100%. Again we sell on service and value, not price. This is part of the service/value equation.

John, I'm not that familiar with the actual workings of selectus, so please excuse a stupid question.

Is selectus a modular base platform? Meaning, to do a particular task, you have to purchase a particular module that does that task and intergrates with the others?

Thanks John. I look forward to going forward. I will say that I find the QC units (mainly the scanning) to be extremely buggy. Constant freezing in the scan mode, combined with less than ideal scan copies. I've had it looked at a few times, and it just gets aggravating after awhile.
I'd like to have the option of emailing PDF files of ppwk to admin. quick and easy on the iPhone (I use it all the time emailing customs ppwk to dispatch). I also don't have a clue as to the practicality of this on your end. Just throwing it out there.

Yea mine sayes the same thing in 3 different cities covering 175 miles...but thats not what i hear from dispatch..........

I never did call. I got a em to knoxville. Before I left olive branch is when I did the 19/w zip.

When I got here last night, I did a normal 19 and got the regular response.

Emailing it in to us just adds another manual step. It also has to do with how the system accepts the files. We really cant have them coming in to us in all different forms at this point. Scott do you have the newer style or the older style scanner? Check with Steve on this.

Ron, Sylectus is a pretty big main product, but they do have about 15 different modules/interfaces that you can add on. We operate almost all of these currently.

Hey this year I've been within an hour or so of delivery....I mean in all honesty...Payroll gets in at 8am or so.....if I scan it at 1am or 3 am is there any difference?.....

I figured that might not be doable. I have the small dock port? Scanner that's been changed at least once. I'll get with maintenance again although the freezing seems to be a qc problem not scanner. I'll get it worked out.

Yes, the customer gets an automatic email from us when the paperwork comes in. They are then able to access it thru a link or via the customer web portal. 3am may not seem likely, but on a hot expedite it might mean that little extra to the customer. That little extra is what separates us from the rest.

I normally just do a 19 and make a decision based on that for a move on my own,,But i called yesterday for just an opinion and was told to sit tight there were 3 sprinters ahead of me in Laredo..so I stayed..I called today for a totally different reason and was told they had units in Laredo, ok but i am not calling about a move there...so..i checked 3 different cities and the QC list me as the only unit in each if i were to go there..Now i believe dispatch has the most up tp date real time info, but if i was relying on the QC to make a decisoion where to move and the answers between it and dispatch were that far off...then i need to qusetion something...

like my situation right now is not about moving to a better place for freight, i am in a decent area and can DH anywhere from here..i just don't get the kinda big difference in the # of units...when we make decisions based on that info...
