Hang in there, this is not normal. The last two weeks have been really strange on freight for the small vehicles. Normally I would agree with OVM's advice but right now I am not sure. It is almost a take whatever comes to turn the wheels. It is somewhat better today, but a little too early to tell if this little slump is over. No explanation for it at all, that is what drives me crazy.

Things will turn around. Some weeks are horrible some weeks are so great and some weeks are inbetween. Closer to summer we get the better I hope it gets for everyone

Sorry Cuz,

It has been a very choppy two weeks. That and I have NEVER seen more dry runs and cancellations in my life in such a short period.

i know, i had 3 in one week and the last of them i deadheaded 114 miles for, got loaded, drove about 40 miles and had to take the freight back because the customer cancelled my load and a bulk trailer load from same shipper. what in the world is going on out here? its crazy John. im trying to hold it together.

I used to see that at my old carrier if I got caught in KC on a bad week. I always blamed it on the rate-cutters under cutting the bids enough to get the customer to cancel and give the freight to the rate cutter.

I think my record was 3 times in one day that I started the straight truck, got the logbook ready.... and yep, never made it out of the parkin lot...lol.

I wish I had answers. Freight is a very hard to understand thing. Our tractor trailers are running at almost 100% capacity, at the same time the vans/sprinters have been slow. If I had an answer we would probably be building a transportation shrine in my name. :)

Ive never been able to explain it completely but Ive always noticed it to be like this....then its the expediters turn to do well while the tt's struggle.

Cuzz..... best of luck. Im sure others....and others at other carriers.... are struggling too.... like you and I.
