Now let's look at the rest of Americans and on average with no college degree, what they're making. To pay what is equivalent to the comments I read, are you ready to pay $12.50 for a big Mac meal?
It's been backwards for a long time, hence "made in China".

Ya the game has changed.. Sadly
I booked me a load couple days ago that paid pretty good 520 miles 925$ total... So I went to the shipper and I had to wait about an hour for the freight to be rdy ... So I chilled and another sprinter pulled up the guy had to wait so he approached me and we started talking , told me he started expediting like 4-5 months ago he said ... payment + insurance was $1300
He also said the highest paying load he got was 70c . A mile.,, total ever I didn't even want to know what's the lowest he drives for! I would of probably ran my sprinter into his or something if he told me:D ... He was telling that's a lot and asking me if I ever made more... :D he just didn't know better , ppl like that change the game... And we gotta drive for change!

Be safe out there!

Say no ! To cheap freight !!!!!

Well, OVM, you want to be a fly on the wall? (Funny you said that, as that is my nick name for ya), go to the Expo and receive, not transmitt. You can hear all kinds of far out things on how wonderful this type of work can be. " we want to be paid while on vacation". Said more times than I could count.

Yesterday I played the nickle-dime game. Actually if was just the nickle game. I was number 1 of 2 on the board (#2 was a team) when dispatch called me with a load offer. She was up front from the beginning telling me it was a nickle less than my contracted rate. The load was 828 miles with 70 miles deadhead and delivering direct. If the delivery time was accurate this load was going to swap. No big deal to me except I wasn't going to play the nickle game and the swap/safety/confusion game all on the same load. I politely declined the load and thank her for the offer.

Five minutes later I got another load offer, full rate but less miles and only 12 miles DH. I took it. About 6 hours down the road I stop for fuel. At the fuel pump is another Panther van, a man and a woman. It was the team that took the load I declined. We compared QC times and messages. They got offer the load first, at a nickle off their contracted rate, which is a nickle less than my contracted rate or a dime less total. They refused the load so I was next to get the offer. When I refused the load, they got called back with an extra nickle added to the original discounted offer they received. They accepted the load this time being it was at their contracted rate. March madness! Earlier this morning it turned into pure stupidity but that's another story. Stayed tuned.

Had a load offer this morning from Shepherdsville Ky. to Lancaster oh. Was told I was about a 100 mi out and was going to pay me .73 for all miles. I nicely said no thanks. Got one from Georgetown Ky. to Sheperdsville ky at over $2 mi. Sometimes you just have to play the wait game.

Got a load offer today, I was 170 miles out, 507 loaded, pay was 450. what a load.
I hope you didn't take that load for .66 all miles. You are one of the ones who obviously don't know what your cost per mile is. Lol.

Don't think anyone has a rate lately to cover that kind of deadhead. Not every load makes sense for every truck.

Pretty simple to figure out honestly. Pay / miles(loaded or all). Still sitting so no I didn't take it.

They were paying like $100 FSC for the load, but still very bad. I don't mind the deadhead if the pay is good. But at the rate it's beyond terrible.

Where was the load going/where are you sitting? If your sitting in a good area then i can see. If sitting in a not so good area and the load was going to a good then i would have to think about. For some that might be worth taking.
