Looks like Ron Paul has finally figured it out

Looks like reality has set in. Except of course for still collecting donations.

Despite the turnout, Paul reminds last in delegates among the three remaining candidates and has yet to win a primary, a result the congressman from Texas still finds difficult to explain.

"I'm not really sure," said Paul. "There's a lot of theories on this but it looks like we don't get enough people to the polls, but there's always encouragement. The crowds come out, they're enthusiastic, they love the message, they send the money, but there seems to be a disconnect."

Vowing to continue his campaign as long as turnout and donations remain steady, Paul's three day swing through Texas kicked off with a new ad aimed to attrack Texas voters.

The trip comes at the same time state party leaders are considering changing the primary to "winner-take-all." Hoped by some to help Santorum should he win the state, Paul says he's not a fan of the idea.

"If I win I'm all for it!" joked Paul. "No, I think it's fairer to let it do proportional."

"I didn't do anything in Florida because Romney had so much money and you compete real hard and spend millions," explained Paul. "I get a lot of donations, but they're small donations and if you don't win it you lose all that money. So proportional representation is much better."

Paul admits his chances of winning the Republican nomination are a long-shot and stands by his refusal to consider running as a third-party candidate. The congressman says by staying in the race he hopes to continue to spread his messages on issues such as foreign policy and the Federal Reserve.

"Now it looks more likely that Romney would win, but up until now I kept thinking that there could be a brokered convention," said Paul. "If you don't win, you might have an influence, and maybe we can do something with the platform."

Ron Paul's lack of votes is proof positive that the republican party is still not ready to accept the constitution as the cornerstone of our freedom.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories. But I do believe that the republican voters have been played a fool by their own party!

No....I just think the voters reject Ron Paul. Nothing more complicated than that.

That tells me that the republican voters just want socialism instead of Marxism... What did I tell you about the republican party... They aren't conservatives anymore. So is you want to vote conservative in November, you will have to vote for someone else than Romney... Or vote for Romney and hope he becomes a conservative. Good luck with that!!!

No...it tells me they don't want Ron Paul, Gingrich, or Santorum for that matter.

That may be true with Romney. But the good news is all the conspiracy theories and hoopla over Paul will likely be over. Even Paul himself basically says its over except for raising some cash.

Paul did not TRY to win. I think he was just throwing out ideas to see if they would float.

They very well could have IF Paul had the 'fire in his gut' that it takes to win this. Another weak field. Makes sense for the last one in our history. It is fitting.

Based on the previous election he likely knew where he would poll this time around. Same cast of characters and message pretty much provided that info. I think it was a cash grab and get a few ideas out there before he retires.

One more time, a candidate spends zillions to get elected, so he can waste zillions of our money and run the economy into the ground and only get $400,000.00 a year income for himself. So, are we, the voter the stupid ones in the nuthouse of politics, u be the judge. Tell me again why so many voted for Orama, tell me so I can understand . I know no one on EOL voted for OB, because the folks in here have more sense and pride in their country, Right??????????? I'm voting for Rush, think about it, could he do any worse then OB?

Only have to go to the ones that voted for him.
So many voted for Obama expecting that "hope and change'. They expected the house and car payment to be met with a handleful of Obamabucks for their cigs, liqour and food.

Right on target - he didn't even have to spend money on hiring internal pollsters, because his effort from four years ago told him what to expect. That's about what happened; he made a bunch of speeches to crowds of bored college students wanting to appear "involved" even though they're too lazy to vote. The usual dedicated fanatics send him the money and his family adds to their IRA accounts. I guess after he retires he'll go back to having his ghost writers print the newsletters.

To your excellent post I will only add that politicians CAN make a fortune being in politics. Just looked at Slick Willie Bill Clinton's speaking fees and income or Obama's past and future book deals as well as his future speaking fees. Follow the money.

I think RP should switch to independent.
We've been voting progressively ..... well progressive over the years and now it's catching up with the union.

We need a drastic change and **** quickly and that's something people just don't want to face.

He has indicated he didn't want to do that. Although he could change his mind. I don't think it will make any real difference other than gaining a handful of democratic anti-war folks. The results were predicted before he even finished IA.
