There is a difference though, if your boss told you to go ahead and give her an ear full you probably would've met her. The same can be applied to Obama, you can meet him and tell him exactly what you think.

ONLY if I am NOT required to show ANY kind of "fake respect". I would LOVE to have the chance to question that bum, unscripted, on LIVE TV. NO HOLDS BARRED.

When I said I would NOT want to meet with him I was thinking more in the context of being invited, like the drivers, or a "military" thing.

OH PLEASE give me a crack at that bum on TV!! LOL!! OH what fun that would be.

You see, I am NOT in awe of presidents, governors etc. They are MY EMPLOYEES nothing more. They work for ME. They are there for MY benefit, not theirs. They have forgotten that .

Greg, it is quite obvious that you have never met me nor know me.

Well next time when you all see me pull in to a truck stop, don't run away. :D

One either has the courage of one's convictions or you don't. If you compromise you beliefs just to accept the "honor" of meeting someone who is famous it is assured that you do not have the courage of you convictions or are at least very shallow with appearance being more important than living up to your standards and beliefs. (not meaning YOU or anyone in particular, just speaking in general)

It isn't the point of meeting the person themselves but being asked to. I had no desire to meet some of the people who I met but it was something nice to be asked.

Nothing to do with convictions, compromising one's beliefs or what ever, but it is just nice to ask.

You should post in the locations thread so people know where you are or are going to be. It gives people the chance to run or find you if they want.

Now Greg, you know darn well that I did NOT run away. I was out there for a good 20 minutes before I left. So THERE!! :D

You see, it would be an INSULT to me to get an invitation to the White House. It would NOT be nice and I would NOT accept and WOULD make it VERY public as to why. Not that this matters, it is never going to happen any way. It is EVERY bit about my convictions and beliefs. Every thing I do is.

But see Layout, I agree with you on one thing, I don't have to respect the office or the holder, they work for me but I do have respect for myself, those who fought for our freedoms and our country which may be where you are not getting what I am saying.

The invite is important, the response, the president or even for that matter the WH isn't important. I view the invite as respecting what I may have done, what you did and others who actually fought for the country did based on the recognition that 300 million others didn't get.

I mean you can sell out your convictions to different things like thinking it is about Obama but respecting yourself and the country you live in seems to be a little bit more important at times.

As for that 20 minutes, I pulled in, you all left - end of story. :p

OH NO!! I was INSIDE the truck stop for at LEAST another 30 minutes AFTER you pulled in and then outside, looking at a drivers APU right next to your truck for 20. I did NOT see you nor did I know it was your truck! End of sked, AR AR dit dit K!

Greg, I have met some of the most important people who have ever lived. Fellow soldiers, fellow volunteer fire fighters, fellow volunteer EMT's. All people who were willing to put their lives on the line for people that they did not know. Not for "power" over others. Not for the adoration. Not for personal riches. Because it was the right thing to do.

Presidents do NOT impress me. REAL people do.

You see, I don't believe for ONE SECOND that THIS president, or many others, invite people to recognize THEIR deeds. I believe that THIS president does it for photo opps and a chance to get votes. It is ALL for show. Nothing more.

The problem is that those "true" conservatives tend to be marginalized by the establishment wing of the party.

The Republicans controlled congress until 2007, Bush was in office from 2001 to 2009. You do the math.

Well it's a continuous battle to make the republican party more conservative. No reason to just give up because it's too hard. The attempt at marginalizing of conservatives takes place from the dems and the lamestream media more than anything. I could be wrong, but looked up who controlled congress from 2000 to 2008 and I did the math and I counted 4yrs.
