Well you could have gone to the UAW/AFL-CIO love fest in downtown Detroit and stood in line and shook his hand. He was here, again and many times you could have gone.

We know you would love to meet him.

The irony is an Obama loss next year would be the Obama bashers' worst nightmare. Think about it, they won't have their whipping boy to rant about. Hence the loss of an apparent source of fulfillment and self worth for some of our esteemed colleagues.....lol

Operators are standing by....lol

As I've said an untold number of times, I'm no more a fan of the current administration than many of the resident bashers here...However, I'm always perplexed as to why Bush never got half as much flak from the Right..By many accounts, he was every bit as left leaning, fiscally-speaking as Obama.

LOL, yea you have been here since before barry was elected...and the fact that bush spent as if he were a democrat is widely known and beyond that, 99% of what is going on now is bushs fault...just ask barry...

Well it looks like he may still be here, I think that many of those who make a living from him are going to vote for him to keep their pocket books full of money.

To this day, I recall a commercial ran by Pat Buchanon(the then Reform Party candidate) in 2000 in which he stated that Bush would "spend like a beltway liberal." If only the other 99% or so of the voters heeded his message, we'd be in economic nirvana compared to where 10 years of BushBama landed us.

You know, I've always wondered which way the likes of Rush, Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity pull that lever when behind that curtain.

The best way for the libs to rid the airwaves of these characters would be to vote Obama out.

The problem is too many people feel they need to have them on the air to feel good about themselves.

I wonder what it is going to be like when Rush retires, are we going to get the Oprah type love fest?

Yet Bush and Hannity have flourished whether it was a republican or a democrat in the whitehouse so I doubt that would happen.

One could argue that they amassed a big fan base during the Clinton years which carried over through the Bush years. Also, they had a Democratic Congress to kick around for almost half the Bush years.

Now, the greatest irony of all is the fact that Clinton was actually to the right of Bush, economically yet it was a disdain of Clinton that boosted Rush's fan base.

Sorry Clinton wasn't to right of Bush economically. He would have spent like Obama if not for the republican congress takeover in 1994. Rush became popular in the late 1980's when a republican was president.(the first Bush) sustained it thru Clinton, then Bush 2, then Obama. He has withstood the test of changing political scenes and has remained entertaining and popular. That is my point.

Maybe, maybe not. One thing's for sure; Bush managed to spend like a drunken sailor, despite a Republican controlled Congress during 6 of his 8 years in office. Then again, that just furthers the argument that the Republicans are no better than the Dems...Just saying

Republicans no better than the Dems? Maybe,Maybe not but the repubs have some true conservatives that are at least attempting to change their party. The Dems don't have any.
Small point but the Repubs controlled congress for only half of Bush's term not 6yrs. Getting back to the thread topic. The drivers who couldn't meet the president acted properly by stating they had "scheduling conflicts". If they didn't want to meet him they didn't make a big fuss over it and comment negatively about it. For those who said they would like to meet him that is fine, but for those who don't they are probably saying to themselves "Cmon it's Barry. I don't want to meet him.":D

The problem is that those "true" conservatives tend to be marginalized by the establishment wing of the party.

The Republicans controlled congress until 2007, Bush was in office from 2001 to 2009. You do the math.

I still think that if the invite came to Dennis or to Layout, they would not refuse it.

Greg, it is quite obvious that you have never met me nor know me. I did turn down a chance to meet our former governor. She came to Cabela's when I was working there.

A BIG show. The anti-hunting, anti-gun, anti-everything sleaze looking for votes. They asked me to meet her and sell her a fishing license. They asked be because I had a reputation for being able to handle "high profile" or "famous" customers without acting like a jerk.

I asked my boss if I would be allowed to tell Jenny EXACTLY what I thought of her anti-gun and anti-hunting policies and if I would be allowed to call her out on the "show" she was putting on here and the fraud that she was.

Of course he said "NO"!!! I laughed, and politely told him that I would NOT be able to help him out with that witch then.

To thine own self be true.

One either has the courage of one's convictions or you don't. If you compromise you beliefs just to accept the "honor" of meeting someone who is famous it is assured that you do not have the courage of you convictions or are at least very shallow with appearance being more important than living up to your standards and beliefs. (not meaning YOU or anyone in particular, just speaking in general)

There is a difference though, if your boss told you to go ahead and give her an ear full you probably would've met her. The same can be applied to Obama, you can meet him and tell him exactly what you think.
