Locking Gas Cap

The Ones that CAN "Truck".............DO.

Those that can't...........Grab a Cargo Van and Toot around the Country in that Cargo Van thinking and believing they're a "Trucker".

Hey that's me! Have we met?

If the chances were great enough that a Vandal might pour sugar in the gas tank of my generator, or a Visigoth would paint it black. My first concern would be to protect my van and its engine. I'd buy a locking gas cap for the van and then have the entire van dipped in Teflon™.

Feel free to borrow the idea and use it on Shark Tank. I can see Mark Cuban dropping 20 million to get behind this.

This reminds me of conversations I have sometimes about my chain size....some think its too small...it should be heavier...they say if someone has a chain cutter they will swipe it.....I say IF they have a chain cutter, a bigger chain won't stop them..will it?....LOL ... I am not going to carry around a 100 lb chain...if they really want it they break the plastic handle or whatever...

there is about 150 active serial killers in the U.S at any one time according to the BAU of the FBI....YOU are next!!.....

All they need for your chain is scissors.

The gas cap Xiggi posted appears to be made for connecting an extra gas tank. If one only used the stock tank, that metal cap could be fitted with an eye-bolt inserted in the fuel line hole, a flat piece of steel with a slot cut to receive the eye-bolt, similar to a hasp and a padlock. The piece of steel would only need to be long enough to hit the handle, preventing the gas cap from turning more than half a turn.

Any small deterrent that causes a thief or vandal to think twice and move on is a good thing. As mentioned, if someone really, really wants to steal your generator, they will.

Tony, in truth I have no idea. I know my photos have uploaded, whether I was doing it from my computer or using photos from another website. One of the mods might know, and the site administrator should be able to help.

Great reply, mj. Especially because you quoted the question, which clarifies the response. The first post after Tony's question [#28] was kind of confusing [but in a hilarious way] until I figured out BobWolf wasn't referring to the photo....
