Locking Gas Cap

I've got more than 850,000 expediting miles under my 11-year belt, ALL of them with a CDL with a HAZMAT endorsement. I regularly haul HAZMAT which requires placarding, keep an accurate and legal logbook and go through weigh stations, and have never failed any inspection. What else ya got?

You've got 850,000 Miles and 11 Years as an Over-Glorified (At Least in the Real Trucking World) Contract Driver in a Van working as a "Courier" under your belt...........That's All.

That's what else I got...............Live With It........Deal With It..........Accept It.

............and there's that Old Saying amongst Truckers..........

The Ones that CAN "Truck".............DO.

Those that can't...........Grab a Cargo Van and Toot around the Country in that Cargo Van thinking and believing they're a "Trucker".

Hell.............I respect Ms Cheri MORE as a "Trucker" than You........and that should say a LOT.

Somewhere in all the blather about "real truckers" vs CVers, we lost a thread about locking gas caps. Maybe we can find it again. In the meantime, if you want to make ME think you're a "professional trucker" regardless of vehicle size and number of wheels, you might try a little common courtesy. Can't hurt, might help.

I went to JC Whitney looked up locking gas caps. At the bottom Google had at east eight sights.

If its mounted outside consider enclosing it in an aluminum job box.

Or one could always troll forums looking for an outlet for their miserable life.

Any idea why my pic won't upload?

Tony, in truth I have no idea. I know my photos have uploaded, whether I was doing it from my computer or using photos from another website. One of the mods might know, and the site administrator should be able to help.

Looking at yours I would take it there is a box structure at least 12 " wide on the inside of the box?

I hope you completely sealed that box on the seams...

Not to derail this anymore than it is. But brisco I would take turtles word as fact far faster than yours.

And thinking like this is EXACTLY how that JakAs in the White House not only got elected once...........but TWICE!!!

There's Book Smarts.............and there's Experience Smarts. It amazes me that someone with K's smarts (Yes, I do know a little about Turtles background) is out there in a Cargo Van running Expedite Freight.

But........Ted Kaczynski proved to ALL that being Book Smart doesn't mean you're the Brightest Bulb in the Chandelier...............

I'm done in this thread.....................Back to Topic people.

And you just proved to all that you have no concept of common courtesy. Congratulations.

Now.. back on thread. There's a Honda dealership not far from my place, so I took a trip there just to see what's what. As stated, you can't get a locking gas cap for this generator. The reason is that there just isn't that big of a market for locking caps for generators, since most are used either for home power during an emergency or campground power in this size range. However, I had a look at the generator itself, and I think I could build a work-around to the problem of securing the gas cap quickly enough. There are places to secure your strap-metal, and if you do it right you can even make it look "factory"--- though I personally regard looks to be of lesser importance to keeping fiends from dumping foreign stuff into the tank.

I also like the idea of mounting the unit in a cage as has been suggested in this thread. The advantage being that you not only protect the fuel tank, you also help secure the entire unit from theft. Considering that this generator has a nearly 2K price tag, that's no small consideration.
