I think he might be politely saying that if you did hunt in your shorts, there wouldn't be any need for hunter orange clothing.

You know OVM, my lawyer is thinking about suing you to recover the cost of my cat's therapy, we have spent over $6000 already and she still doesn't even meow right like she did before seeing you in those shorts. Her nightmares have increased and she has become paranoid to the point she has cameras all over her litter box and her hideaway crate so no shorts attack her.
