Lol .... Who says i am going home ...
it helps when your Dispatch realizes you also have a Personal life outside of the Van... When you run well for them Monday till Friday ..they also like family time on weekend .. so why not the drivers ...

Mark, how come you never said that about your/our last carrier?

The amount of JD freight here was a calling card for me ... here i get my (whale) loads during the week ... at old carrier , like other carriers you need the Weekend Whale loads just to get decent miles for the week ... thus less Home time ...

After running over Labor Day weekend, delivered in Rodeo, CA Tues morning...wed afternoon loaded in Richmond, CA and delivered direct thurs afternoon, 1,250 miles to Aurora, CO.

Now, after 68 days out and only 28 hours at home during that time (as we passed by) we are heading home...not expecting a load. Currently passing thru Topeka, KS. 725 miles left to the house.

Approximately 28,000 miles since July 18, and only about 10% sight seeing miles. Damn good avg on dispatched miles (loaded and D/h). But DEFINITELY ready for some time off.

shhh, OVM, people have enough crossroads in life.
This business needs a clear straight forward vision.

IMO some operators are NOT true and complete INDEPENDENT operators when they expect thier respective carriers to hold thier hand....like the pay issue...they expect to get paid in a week....BUT thats not the way this business goes....1 example the local grocery operator...he gets paid when people buy the product whenever that should be...another the local gas operator gets paid when fuel is sold....he does not get a check from the gas company a week later....employees get paid next week for work done today...

IF some carriers would give people the OPTION to carry forward their own invoices and say bump the pay up maybe 2-3% points for doing so would help increase take home pay.....the cost of carrying a line of credit comes right out of our pocket...its an unseen expense...

in addition I see some carriers advertising pay in 2 days.....don't people think there is a cost in doing this...and where and who do you think is really paying for this service?...smarten up people...

There is nothing independent in broker - driver relationship.
True independence is driver - customer, but we all know that is not possible cargo van expediting. At least not steadily profitable enough to keep rolling.

BTW, OVM, rolled through your state. If it wasn't in the middle of nowhere (read too close to Canada ), and not so cold in the winter... Otherwise good state.

true...but most of us pay for a brokers service/carrier..paying giving them a % of the load value...hence they work for us...

Too bad most don't think the way you do.
Too afraid to say anything, or feel like they are drivers.
The only way to do this is to have mutual respect between an owner and a person finding a load. Once that is lost, you are a meat driving for 70c, like some of the illegal operators out there.

well of course...we need the loads they have access to...and they need us to run them...neither party would make money...we select their services we deem that bests suits OUR business needs and we have expectations they will up hold their end...and we agree to the fee they charge...you'll notice no one really negotiates a contract....we agree to lease our equipment to them at their terms.
