Nothing like the "free" exchange of ideas at Michigan State. They MAY be as bad as the profs at Michigan are! Does any one REALLY believe that ANYONE who would express a different point of view would ever pass this class? I have sent this to my state rep. The one who answers EVERY email and phone call himself.
[h=1]Michigan State prof’s first-day rant: ‘old,’ ‘cheap’ Republicans ‘raped’ country
The fall semester has started for college students around the country, and you know what that means: insufferable leftist professors spouting politics instead of teaching relevant course material.[/h]
Take English professor William S. Penn, who teaches at taxpayer-funded Michigan State University. On Thursday, reports Campus Reform, he spent the first day of a creative writing class engaged in a bizarre, hate-filled rant.
An unidentified student in the class secretly recorded the diatribe. There’s a clip below. You can also view the full YouTube clip in all its wacky, odious glory.
“If you go to the Republican convention in Florida, you see all of the old Republicans with the dead skin cells washing off them,” Penn said. “They’re cheap. They don’t want to pay taxes because they have already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could.”
Penn then blamed Republicans for not wanting to pay for everybody’s college.
“They don’t want to pay your tuition because who are you? Well, to me, you’re somebody,” he said.
It’s unclear if Penn has generously covered the costs of attending Michigan State for students in the class. Full-time tuition and fees for in-state undergrads at the school is $12,908 per year. Out-of-state students pay $33,796.
Later, Penn accused Republicans of masterminding a complex “voter suppression” scheme in South Carolina and North Carolina.
“It’s about getting black people not to vote” because “black people tend to vote Democratic,” the political science English professor theorized.
But Penn wasn’t done yet. Oh, no. Penn, who is white and sports a feathery mullet, also declared that Republicans are “a bunch of dead white people, or dying white people.”
On the first day of a creative writing class, he further managed to insult multiple sclerosis victim Ann Romney, the wife of Mitt Romney.
The economics English professor further suggested that Romney has hidden substantial amounts of money “offshore, in the Cayman Islands.” Penn did not mention the offshore holdings of Democrats such as Dianne Feinstein and John Kerry.
“If you are a Republican, forgive me, I absolutely don’t mean to offend you,” the irate English prof swore toward the end of his rant.
Campus Reform reached out to Penn, who had nothing to say.
A spokesman for Michigan State did get back to Campus Reform.
“MSU is thankful we’ve been made aware of the situation; we will be looking into it,” the spokesman said. “At MSU it is important the classroom environment is conducive to a free exchange of ideas and is respectful of the opinions of others.”
Penn won an award for teaching excellence in 2003 and has twice won the Stephen Crane Prize for Fiction.
