Leftist prof

Nothing like the "free" exchange of ideas at Michigan State. They MAY be as bad as the profs at Michigan are! Does any one REALLY believe that ANYONE who would express a different point of view would ever pass this class? I have sent this to my state rep. The one who answers EVERY email and phone call himself.

[h=1]Michigan State prof’s first-day rant: ‘old,’ ‘cheap’ Republicans ‘raped’ country

The fall semester has started for college students around the country, and you know what that means: insufferable leftist professors spouting politics instead of teaching relevant course material.[/h]
Take English professor William S. Penn, who teaches at taxpayer-funded Michigan State University. On Thursday, reports Campus Reform, he spent the first day of a creative writing class engaged in a bizarre, hate-filled rant.

An unidentified student in the class secretly recorded the diatribe. There’s a clip below. You can also view the full YouTube clip in all its wacky, odious glory.

“If you go to the Republican convention in Florida, you see all of the old Republicans with the dead skin cells washing off them,” Penn said. “They’re cheap. They don’t want to pay taxes because they have already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could.”

Penn then blamed Republicans for not wanting to pay for everybody’s college.

“They don’t want to pay your tuition because who are you? Well, to me, you’re somebody,” he said.

It’s unclear if Penn has generously covered the costs of attending Michigan State for students in the class. Full-time tuition and fees for in-state undergrads at the school is $12,908 per year. Out-of-state students pay $33,796.

Later, Penn accused Republicans of masterminding a complex “voter suppression” scheme in South Carolina and North Carolina.

“It’s about getting black people not to vote” because “black people tend to vote Democratic,” the political science English professor theorized.

But Penn wasn’t done yet. Oh, no. Penn, who is white and sports a feathery mullet, also declared that Republicans are “a bunch of dead white people, or dying white people.”

On the first day of a creative writing class, he further managed to insult multiple sclerosis victim Ann Romney, the wife of Mitt Romney.

The economics English professor further suggested that Romney has hidden substantial amounts of money “offshore, in the Cayman Islands.” Penn did not mention the offshore holdings of Democrats such as Dianne Feinstein and John Kerry.

“If you are a Republican, forgive me, I absolutely don’t mean to offend you,” the irate English prof swore toward the end of his rant.

Campus Reform reached out to Penn, who had nothing to say.

A spokesman for Michigan State did get back to Campus Reform.

“MSU is thankful we’ve been made aware of the situation; we will be looking into it,” the spokesman said. “At MSU it is important the classroom environment is conducive to a free exchange of ideas and is respectful of the opinions of others.”

Penn won an award for teaching excellence in 2003 and has twice won the Stephen Crane Prize for Fiction.

It doesn't matter if one is left or right leaning. Anybody spouting off like that is an idiot and needs to be fired.

METHINKS you are not a resident of Michigan!

Indeed, I am not. Proud son of the Keystone State :)

:D The "unions" will back this dud. He/She/It will likely been allowed to continue with his "Stuff".

Oh, no doubt! I still think he has toppled over, along with more than a few folks in Washington

Yes, I am more than aware of where you are from. Ever heard of Glen Rock, PA? I lived there for 10 years. Ran fire and ambulance with local crews. Did a few training sessions at a place near where you live. Fought a couple of forest fires near there as well.

PA in my "second State" Both my parents were born and raised in PA.

Now I remember: we discussed this a year or two ago. Glen Rock is in York County, right? I live across the Susquehanna, in Lancaster Co.

Just the same, in politics there are -wingers on both sides, regular people on both sides of the fuselage, and some folks who are so far out on the wings they could be the blinking lights :p

Yep, York Co. There is a fire training place right near where you live. We would often train there with crews from your area.

He's likely a tenured professor and can't be fired - just exercising his right to free speech don't 'cha know. This is a great example the liberal indoctrination our college kids get in exchange for our tax dollars and the tens of thousands more we pay in tuition and associated costs. The sad fact is that it's likely that any student that openly challenges these blowhards will get a "C" (which is today's "F") and could lose their Hope scholarship if their GPA drops too low. There is no counter-argument allowed in most of these classrooms, where the free and open exchange of ideas is supposed to flourish to develop the young skulls full of mush.

your post has nothing to do with the OP.

I know the firefighting and ambulance stuff is a bit off topic as well but could we have a separate thread for tales of your ambulance rescues and timber fire fights? I am quite sure most members eagerly await these thrilling stories!

"He knew my face already--I was sitting front and center," Freeman said. "He had said before, 'You have every right to disagree with me, but it may be reflected in your grade."

Is there ANY reason that this slug should keep his job? Typical of the extreme left, and right. This sure lends itself to furthering higher education, does it not? I wonder what the professional "excusers" have to say about this?

I am waiting to hear what my congressman said. When he called me tonight he was under the impression that the prof had been fired and that the news reports were incorrect. He is going to email me with more info, either way, when he gets it.
