The quote-quote-quote method of replying may seem ignorant to some, but the reality is that it's the only way to intelligently reply to a post where the reply addresses several issues so as to make it plainly evident as to which comments are being addressed. Quoting what you are replying to, and then replying directly below the quote, is a time tested method for readability and to reduce the inherent misunderstandings that this medium supports, especially in the long term, that goes back well beyond the invention of the World Wide Web.

Thank you Turtle the best I could come up with was thats how I stay focused. I do notice that some people just take it as slicing and dicing. When that is not necessarily the intent.

You're welcome.

Yeah, sometimes it's just easier to call people names, attack them on a personal level, point out grammer and speeling mistaks, rather than attack the issues at hand. One has to bolster one's ego and importance some how, ya know. :D

Does anyone remember what the original subject of this post was?
After reading through the whole thing I forgot.

I think it was about equating the number of EO posts someone has made, to something that matters.

I was expediting for several years before I made my first post here on EO. What does that mean?

.....and my favorite, calling me ignorant.

A couple of people have been stating that "Name" calling has gone on in this thread. I challenge each one to point out exactly where the "Name Calling" has taken place.

Claiming ones actions or words show ignorance is not calling one ignorant. If one had actually called someone here ignorant, then that would be that that one also believes that person was ignorant in everything he does, (ie-tying their shoes, shifting gears, using a fork, picking their nose, etc), but that is not the case here. I have full confidence that jim-jam has no issues at all when using a fork or picking his nose.:p One was pointing out ignorant posting, that's all.

Funny how the same posters seem to show up and show their ignorance in certain controversial threads each and every time one starts up. It's no wonder why one certain member feels the way he does with the quality of intelligent posting going on here at times. ;)

*** Editted***

Due to the fact that one members ignorance could not figure out that I had ignorantly added an "S" to a certain word in a sentence of mine that he had an opinion on. Ignorant typo on my part, sorry.

(and people wonder why I question the intelligence of some members here)

Actually, that's precisely what it is. To be ignorant is to be lacking in knowledge or training about a given subject. If someone claims that another's words show ignorance, then they are also claiming the person is ignorant, at least about a given subject.

If one had actually called someone here ignorant, then that would be that that one also believes that person was ignorant in everything he does, (ie-tying their shoes, shifting gears, using a fork, picking their nose, etc), but that is not the case here.
Just because someone is ignorant about one subject, doesn't make them ignorant about any and all subjects. Stupid is as stupid does, but ignorance can be fixed by simple education.

I dunno about that. Word is that he picks his food and forks his nose.

Funny how the same posters seem to show up and show their ignorance in certain controversial threads each and every time one starts up.
Ignorance is bliss.

What I thing is funny are the posters who rarely manage to reply to a post, even when they address the subject matter, without also taking a pot shot at the poster. Too many people reply to the poster, rather than what was posted. They have a difficult time in arguing the issues, and tend to resort to discrediting the poster. It happens here a lot.

It's no wonder why one certain members feels the way he does with the quality of intelligent posting going on here at times. ;)
Clearly, I'm ignorant, 'cause I have no idea what "one certain members" means, not to mention I did the uber ignorant quote-quote-quote thing. At least I'm blissful.

I had the same experience with them back in '99. I filled out the app the day I got it and sent it back Express Mail. They seem impressed that I spent the money to do that, I'm sure they deal with a lot of people that have trouble coming up with 10 bucks. But, when they said I was hired at noon on the day they received the app, well, that just seemed weird to me and I took it as a red flag. I probably over reacted, but I would think any company would do their due diligence first. I've been hired "conditionally" by other companies, but not put on until everything is confirmed.

It reminds me too much of JBHunt. They'd 'ok' you right then, and get you to driving school; then pull you out of orientation, saying you weren't qualified. I've heard of that happening at Panther too. Personally, I'd be infuriated if they pulled that crap with me. If I'm qualified, tell me before I go to orientation. Don't waste my time!

If someone does not lie, or "forget" information when filling out the application, you won't have a problem. If on the other hand you "forgot" about the three DUI's and the drug problem you currently have, along with the ten years in prison for murdering the head of the safety department at your last Carrier, you will have a problem successfully completing the orientation. Or forget that you only have a driving school as part of your experience that clearly states 6 months verifiable OTR experience.

It amazes me how some people feel so wronged when they get booted from orientation because they Lied on their application.

Most all people that truthfully complete the application will be accepted at Panther. Give me an example of someone who didn't.

Well maybe someday Panther might realize that they should check out these new warm bodies a little bit closer before starting them into orientation.

That is probably why there are so many visitors versus actual members on here...So many visits to a thread but only the regulars post a reply to a thread..Too many people who cant wait for someone to screw up on here and then rip them apart, only to leave them feel like crap, never posting again. What a shame it is, for such a great site.Really.

I need to add that I am not saying that mistakes can't happen both on the Carriers part, and the drivers part. But in todays age most Recruiters don't get payed until someone gets in the truck and goes into service. So it does no good to bring a person to orientation unless they feel confident based on the information they have that they can complete the whole process.

Give me an example of someone who didn't.

I didn't fill out an application, truthfully or otherwise. They accepted me sight unseen and welcomed me with the honey, sweetie stuff.

I did get hired over the phone by Apple Lines. Anyone remember them? Went to their office and was handed an application and DOT test. They told me to go down the street to the cafe and fill it out. I don't remember taking a road test, but I must have. After lunch I was in a truck and rolling.

Yes, but surely the Mootsterman reputation proceeded you. They knew that it was a great opportunity to get the one and only Mootsterman. Who wouldn't jump at that? And chinchillas' to boot!

They must not have read any of my E.O. posts prior to signing me on. That would have been a deal breaker.

And I have expressed this exact sentiment a couple of times my 6 months here. If certain members, and a couple of "Moderators" would understand what this message relates to also, then things may change for the better.

I've been ripped a dozen times so far. Not for what I said, but how people have perceived what it was I was saying. Lot of "thin skinned" interpretations taking place, which needs to stop. But, I'm stubborn and will not be ran off.

Hell, I've made more "Friends" in PM's than I have out in the open here on the board. That's says a lot in itself with regards to people wanting to/not wanting to express what they have to say out here in the "open".

Still a great board though, in my opinion.;)
