Then the bumped up prices of a Mustang or camero...

Back in 88 my Dad traded his Kenworth K-100 aerodyne cabover in on a brand new Ford Aeromax...Why? Because at the time, Ford was offering a full bumper to bumper warranty on the whole truck for the duration of the load period if financed through Ford motor credit...A no brainer...It was a fast truck, nontheless....It sat on the lot for awile...he kept looking at it....they finally asked him what it would take for him to buy it....he told them a different color....it was this God-awful cream color with wavy green stripes going down the sides..otherwise a loaded truck...they agreed to pay half of a complete body color change to his liking..I doubt if dealers would do that today...I couldn't find one spot of the old color anywhere on it....between the sleeper and cab, firewall, under the hood, etc...I knew it was the same truck, because we took a wax crayon and put an x on the inside frame rail one Saturday morning when him and I drove up there to have a final look before he made his decision...It was his last truck before retiring...he now lives trucking through me, as he reads the trucking magazines cover to cover that I get at the house..to this day he still knows Ohio like the back of his hand, as well as so many other places....something that I doubt we will never forget as we get older. The stories him and our neighbor speak of from their old school days of trucking, I could sit for hours and listen on the front porch when I am home...

Don't know where all of this is coming from, just sharing thoughts....lol...

Good morning! Another sticky day down here...

Why does one think just because a vehicle has a certain model name that parts are expensive? A Mustang is offered with the 5.4 engine, (The same engine my van has) as well as a 302 (5.0) that has been around for decades....prices on iron engine parts don't vary that much, unless ou are talking about heads, which have changed drastically over the years to get better performance out of the engines...It is far cheaper for a automaker to use the same part as much as possible throughout the whole car lineup as possible to keep costs down..It may surprise you how many different models actually share the same underpinnings, but on so many different bodies. Example-Dodge Neon and a P.T. Cruiser.....same underneath, just different body....

And that is 1 BIG reason we are not as busy... There was a time every model had different parts.... But not anymore

But that's what I am saying..parts prices, for the most part, are really not that more expensive when it comes to the different models..

Just another way for the automakers to save and make more money...Remember when you can get any interior color of you're choice? Regardless of exterior color? Power windows but not power locks? Power brakes but no power steering? Hardly anymore. Try and find a car without a/c on a lot.Expediting is the same way, carriers look for more ways to save and make money, different avenues as time goes on for fright to haul.

I'm so impressed with the results of the extra coats of polyurethane on the Sprinter floor. It finally looks like what I was hoping for. I would have had the results the first time, but I tried to take a short cut using the same products which came in aerosol cans (bad mistake, lesson learned).

Howdy gang...seems like I'm the 'Once a month' poster, here. Had a decent June (Minus the breakdown), and hoping July yields some decent results.

I'm seriously contemplating moving to an under CDL straight truck...yes I'll have the hassle of logs and scales again, but I will be able to generate more revenue...prolly have to sell the Sprinter to help offset the down payment / monthly payment. Something I'm kicking around in my head...may not even happen till next year.

Anywho, I'm at home after an awesome weekend, waiting on the call to get the heck outta here. Hope you all enjoy your day! Shiny side up, greasy side down.

Not sure what you are using, but you might want to add one coat of Minwax Polycrylic to that, or just one coat of acrylic. It'll add a lot of hardness to it. The polyurethane will protect it well, especially good for oil spills and stuff, and will keep the freight from sliding around. Adding acrylic, especially the Polycrylic, will do the same thing, but will add some toughness to it. If Polycrylic is what you used, well, never mind. :D

The spray cans have a benefit. It gives everything inside the van a nice protective coating.

About once or twice a year I give the deck a good scrubbing and then add two coats of Polycrylic.
