The tensioner seized and tore up all the belts!

Of course they do not have one in stock, so they will push the van out and I will be spending the evening in their parking lot.

Tow bill was $689.00!!!

Not real happy at this point in time.View attachment 3116

Dave, sorry to hear. How many miles do you have on it?

Maybe you can buy a spare belt and tensioner and have them with you just in case.

My original tensioner lasted over 300k, the spring locked up, not the bearing, didn't tear up anything, so I continued on home. I changed it when I got home with my spare one. Then I thought that I have a few years to buy another spare to have with me. Well, about 40k later the bearing locked up on the 'newly installed' tensioner, and I didn't have a spare bought yet. If I had it, it would have been a half hour job on the side of the road. But had to give up the load and wait till next day to find one.

Good luck getting it fixed soon.

Sitting at the "J" on I-64 near Evansville, IN. Pick up near here tomorrow. Spent last evening with my son who is stationed at Ft. Know. Nice visit. Then did a load from Louisville to Nashville today. Heading for AL tomorrow.

Van has 84,000 miles and I do not have the skills to do the work myself.

Happy to see you rolling again.

You can still carry a tensioner and belt with you, so you are not stuck until they can bring one up from who knows where.

True. I know people who carry all of the usual suspects with them; idle tensioner pulley's, serpentine belt, alternator, water pumo, fuel pump, and wheel hub assemblies. That way if a hub goes out or whatever, you get the free tow through your commercial insurance, and then merely pay the cost of labor to have the part put on and you're rockin and rollin again!

I'm still here in California with my butt surgically attached to my computer chair. Had a good 10 days of playing driver and now i'm back to screening broker agents and trying to get a few new customers set up and taken care of. The life of the vanner may very well be a thing of the past if I can get some decent shippers to move loads through my brokerage firm! I hope you all are doing well out there.

Sitting at the Vince Lombardi Service Plaza on the NJ Turnpike. Pick up in NYC in the morning. Probably the dirtiest parking lot we have encountered so far. Glad it rained to wash a little of the filth away (and cover the smell.)

Don't really like it here, but seems to be about the only alternative for this part of the world. Really too far to drive to Bordentown. At least we got a spot close to the front.

There is a WalMart in Secaucus, NJ that I was parking my truck at that is quiet and safe. There is a Sam's Club next door and a McDonald's/deli in the WalMart.
