I can understand a Company asking a O\O or driver to came in and have their rig inspected & go over Company policy after 30 days, but to ask someone to sit through 2-3 days of Orientation is ridiculous.

Folks, there are many requirements for your carriers to maintain safety records on drivers. Safety refreshers etc., etc. I'm sure your carrier don't require those things just because you think it's a "stewpid" requirement.

Regardless, if'n you tink it's THAT stewpid, then don't participate. It's just that easy!!

BTW, most of you may feel yer the best driver since Barny Oldfield. But, that is only in YOUR mind. Many have picked up some very bad habits.

If the ICC and a Carrier feel a drivers skills erode so much in thirty days of sitting why not keep track of the days at home, in a truck stop, in a Super market parking lot and pull the driver in for Orientation when ever a total of 30 days sitting has accumulated.

it's not an accumulation they are talking about it straight time over 30 straight days of not driving if you sit a week then drive then your reusing the skills soon enough

If you have been reading some Posts in the last few months, their are people saying they have been sitting darn close to 30 days. So have they lost their skills from sitting at a "J" instead of their house?

i would say that they have lost there business skills then, and that would be more detrimental to there business than having to worry about redoing orientation

 If someone has been sitting for 30 days then it is their fault. If I am sitting for a couple days I am going to actively be moving to a better location looking for a load. Why would anyone sit like that? Nope, doesn't make since to me! Remember folks "when these wheels ain't a turnin, money ain't a earnin"! :D

Only gone 30 days? and for van driver? hmm that don't sound right at all. As for the drug screens my carrier treated my cargo van drivers the same as they did my Cube vans that were commercial status. I always assumed it was insurance as opposed to DOT for the cargo vans.

My wierdest event was when one of my drivers crashed my cube van the company called me in the next day to hit the cup. I started to argue but then thought about it and said sure I'll test. Heck, I new I was clean,, wasn't so sure about my driver.

"Business Skills" have nothing to do with operating a motor vechile. It would seem Tri State is saying you can go home for 6 months as long as your in service, turn down any & all load offers, but your still qualified because your in service. Go out of service for 31 days and your no longer qualified.

Heheheh .... good one Richard.

Personally, I dunno .... going back in once per year might not be so bad ..... might give ya a chance to see what's changed, what's new and exciting if anything, and generally just stay more connected up to the mothership .... and who knows ..... one might even learn something of value whist there .....

I dunno about skills; but if I sat at a hook for 30 days, I'd lose my taste buds... and most likely my mind.
