Is Panterii going to buy TriState?

I don't feel ConWay "sold me out" - I feel they sold a company. Nothing personal, just how business works. As for the relevance of the subject, the topic is whether Panther is intending to buy another carrier, so the recent purchase of a company by Panther would be relevant, no?
There are ways in which Panther does better than ConWay, the Driver's Council, for example, and the website. No one carrier is all good or all bad, they're better and worse in different areas, is all.

One thing I find funny in all this if you were to go back several months in these forms you would find the same drivers that are praising Con Way and how great they "were" serveral months ago were complaining about how much Con Way did wrong and how messed up it was there.

As for a Tri-State driver I chose Tri-State and stay with them for a few reasons,
1. Going thur the recurting program, after the first phone call with Panther I became nothing more than a #. Tri-State always found me by name and dealt with me the same.
2. In Orientation I meet with both ex-panther and ex-conway drivers, There stories confrimed my pick.
3. On a layover in Lodi OH at the TA one weekend, I had many talks with about 40 Panther drivers And once again found I had made the right pick.
Now are there happy Panther Drivers YES, Unhappy TRI-STATE Yes but for me TRI-STATE is the best fit. I hope the kittys dont try and buy us

You know these topics come up every so often and they wind up into a long covoluted thread. If Panther was going to buy Tri State or DHL or United Airlines the drivers and contractors would hear about it when the press release announcing the buyout is issued and not before..

About the only thing that I know of that Conway drivers were complaining about was when they got screwed by Conways fuel matrix program. All that was , was drivers subsidizing other drivers to take a load with a very low fuel surcharge.

If cris was referring to me you're right...I'm not angry. Anyone that knows me can tell ya I don't get mad...well, if I get cheated in my online game I'll say a few choice words, but that's neither here nor there.
I was just giving my opinion on the former CW drivers I met and what they told me.

Hi

Anymore I cring everytime I see the word Panther in the subject line of a post. They are just a carrier; thats it thats all.Not the best of the best nor the worst of the worst.

Or am I misssing something here.I mean I have the PTWT signs on the side of my truck too.I don't feel special.Nor do I feel ashamed and want to hide under a rock.Do you all know something that I don't?Y'all getting perks that I don't know about? Is there a carrier that walks on water?

Hey Buz:

Can you explain your avatar "Mean People Suck". What exactly does that mean? Did you choose it for its deep philosophic statement or was the color scheme way cool?

Like I said earlier, you know mean and bitter when you see it.

Peace dude!

When I have two canoes on my roof I can float on water no matter who's signs are on my doors.

We have and continue to be successful with Panther. Again.....if the perfect company for all was available, everyone would be there.
I notice a trend in that the ones that whine and constantly complain are more of a problem to the others, rather than providing any kind of solution.
As far as companies, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

I don't think Fenway will be buying Tri-State because is not for sale. But I'm sure if the owner of Tri-state wanted to sell it he could because Fenway can afford to buy them. Not every Company is perfect and Each person has their favorite Company that fits their needs. We all are in this business for one reason and that is to make money. Just because DaveKC and Leo has their trucks on with Panther and we have ours on with FedEx Custom Critical that doesn't mean I wouldn't stop to help one of their trucks if they was broke down on the side of the road.

They are my friends not my enemies and just because they are not leased on with FedEx doesn't mean I wouldn't help a fellow driver because they are not leased on with the same company.

To me it needs to get back to the brother and sister hood that trucking once had when my father started driving over 35 years ago.
If a driver broke down on the side of the road everyone would ask if they needed some help or would stop to help a driver. It's not like that now.

Well Smile everyone it's a new year.

Was Con-Way Expedited up for sale? They not only weren't up for sale but had undergone a name change and were changing their look. But, they had their price and Fenway Partners gave it to them. As I recall from a recruitment package I got from Tri-State, they have been in business since '79. After that much time, it's quite possible the principles involved have a figure in their head that would make them want to get out.

Having said that, we could speculate 'til the cows come home. From what is known about Fenway, I think we can expect to see something in '07. What it will be is anyones guess.

I have to disagree with that statement when a lot of those trucks you see sitting on a used truck lot are only 6 months to 3 years old, with around 100 to 200k on them. I doubt someone makes that much money so fast that they upgrade so quickly. There are people out there who lose there shirts in this business ofr a vareity of reasons, but many times its because they were mislead y a carrier, we all know recuriters have a goal they need to hit every month, they will say almost anthing to get you to sign on.

I believe that Con-Way Now was up for sale. But that only a few at corporate and nobody at Now knew this. I would not be surprise to see Con-Way re-enter the expedite market in the not so distant future.
