Increased Security in NYC, Police Inspecting Trucks

So does anyone have any suggestions on alternatives to spending the money, disrupting our lives, all while remaining reasonably safe and secure at the same level?

Ignore it all and hope nothing bad happens really isn't an option. Is it?

I'm a little cold hearted but it seems like the most effective method to me. How many attacks did we have before 911? How many since?

What was the cost to save those lives? Is it worth it?

It actually is really important because the uncertainty after 9/11 caused the economy to tank.

I never thought of that aspect. This will come across as even colder, but if there was regular attacks, people would eventually accept it as the norm like they do in the middle east and still conduct business.

I don't really think we should stop all protection but there has to be a point where its too much. I just don't know where the magic line is.

The amount of productivity lost to airport waiting time has to cost our economy billions each year.

If it became more frequent then I would certainly expect the American people would push for profiling which I think a majority of people probably already support. If that didn't work I'm sure the American people would give up the rights of Muslims as we have given up our own.

Really?

Seriously?

I don't think the economy tanked as much as it stalled for a couple months. We overly compensated for things that we should not have, and still doing it today, driving up debt that we should have been more prudent in creating.

Maybe we need to put that in context of what we have today, the negitive impact of 9/11 is nothing in comparison to the ambiguity that we are facing today with this administration and this congress.
