If you die away from home.

Have you made plans? My wife and I discussed this and since we previously decided on cremation, we believe it would be better to get cremated in the jurisdiction where we died. This is in part do to the expense of transporting a body. Regardless, death is a fact of life and the question I bring to this thread is what are you going to do if your spouse/co-driver (family team) passes away while on the road?

Have my children come and help me deal. Then make the arrangements to have him taken home to be laid to rest next to our son.

Fish bait, fry me it doesn't matter to me. Funerals are for the living. My wife and I are on the same page. The only guarantee in life is you will die. What we don't know us how or when. Our families are close, we talk often and express our love for each other. None of us feel there is anything left unsaid, so there shouldn't be any regrets. Wills are made tho, more for the financial aspect, but there are provisions for body disposal.

Your best bet, hire a vet! Please.

we ran into john osborne last year at expo. after he and i talked a few minutes we discovered he and my wife knew each other from years back.

john is in the st christophers MeRV at most truck shows. probably at loo'vul right now. the st. christopher fund helps get the bodies of truckers back to their families.

here is the site:
St. Christopher Truckers Development & Relief Fund you mgiht want to keep these folks in mind if the unforseen happens.

now back to the silliness of the thread.

This is the kind of response I was looking for. It can be a difficult subject and after a google search I came to realize it was even more expensive and complicated than first thought. We have budgeted for most things for this business but neglected to consider this until recently...I wasn't aware of any organization like this and I can see its value for those that don't opt for cremation...other suggestions are welcome....

WOW... I must say thank you for this post. I haven't even thought about this until now. I guess I need to sit down and talk to my wife about this. THANKS AGAIN

My wife and I are members of Diver Dan. While most of the benefits pertain to diving accidents, there is a provision for body transport not relating to a diving accident. I think we pay $115 a year for both if us.

That option makes sense to us. As to the ashes, scattering them in a meaningful place is one idea. Another is having them made into a diamond (see this). Don't know if we'd actually go for it but it is something to think about. More info

I carry a downer card, and as such, ALL of my family and friends are well trained in the urgency of letting local jurisdictions know of the fact .
by the times it will take for my guts to be fairly distribute, arrangements will be made to fly the leftovers back to my place of terminal rest in Israel, as required by my faith.
this facts have being emotionally discussed long ago, and all travels needs are paid for and readily available worldwide.

hoe knows, it might give me a first chance to travel in an Expedite reefer box...

There is a guy from Columbus, Ohio named Eric Moore. Eric is well known as the front man of a band called The Godz. His plans for his remains after his demise are quite interesting. He wants to be cremated and then have his ashes brough to his favorite venue, rolled up in EZ Widers, then passed out to whoever shows up to smoke him at the wake! I love it.

I printed up a little card. No bigger then my SS card. It has my next of kin cell & work #. The fact I am an organ donor, have a living will, next of kin has Durable power of Attorney, no extraordinary attempts, do not resuscitate. Also my Attorneys name & office #. Laminated four of them. One in each rig with registration, one in my wallet and one in a pocket pad I keep in my shirt pocket or on the dash.;)
