Boot me while yer at it. The birthers want emotion to trump reality, common sense and the law. They wanted so, so badly for that birth certificate to be a forgery, and for Obama to have been born outside the Unites States, because if he was born elsewhere then he would not be eligible for the president (because of the wording of the law at the time of his birth). They said he wasn't born here, therefor he isn't a "natural born citizen". But he was born in the United States, so there ya go, he's a US citizen at birth, and no convoluted interpretation or redefinition of the law or the terms used will change that. The Fourteenth Amendment makes it very clear:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside," so individuals born on U.S. soil are considered "natural-born citizens" regardless of the citizenship status of their parents (with very few exceptions, like the children of foreign diplomats, who are under the jurisdiction of the parent's home country).
So here's the deal: Obama was born in Hawaii, and at the time of his birth Hawaii was in fact one of these United States, which makes him a natural born citizen.
When it comes to conspiracies, not just this one, but most all of them, there’s no amount of evidence or data, including irrefutable evidence, that will change somebody’s mind. They're committed to the conspiracy. The more data you present a person, the more they doubt it. Once you’re committed, especially behaviorally committed or financially committed, the more impossible it becomes to change your mind. Any facts which aren't inconvenient to support the conspiracy become instantly irrelevant. People who believe in a conspiracy theory develop a selective perception and their mind refuses to accept contrary evidence, even when it's absolutely true and irrefutable. They simply dismiss it as part of the conspiracy. And if you criticize a conspiracy theory, you become part of the conspiracy.
This kind of behavior and thinking is both stupid and moronic, because it takes a special kind of stupid and moronity to dismiss the truth in favor of a lie.
