How Does it Feel to Buy Fuel?

How do you stop what? Democracy? Is there ever a true democracy? If there was you wouldn't have to fight for your freedom.

"The politicians don't just want your money. They want your soul. They want you to be worn down by taxes until you are dependent and helpless. When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both."

Unquestionably, there is progress. The average American now pays out twice as much in taxes as he formerly got in wages.
H. L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)

The IRS spends God knows how much of your tax money on these toll-free information hot lines staffed by IRS employees, whose idea of a dynamite tax tip is that you should print neatly. If you ask them a real tax question, such as how you can cheat, they're useless. So, for guidance, you want to look to big business. Big business never pays a nickel in taxes, according to Ralph Nader, who represents a big consumer organization that never pays a nickel in taxes...
Dave Barry (1947 - ), "Sweating Out Taxes"

I see a good deal of talk from Washington about lowering taxes. I hope they do get 'em lowered enough so people can afford to pay 'em.
Will Rogers (1879 - 1935)

Baseball is a skilled game. It's America's game -- it, and high taxes.
Will Rogers (1879 - 1935)

All the taxes paid over a lifetime by the average American are spent by the government in less than a second.

in 1980,i was audited by the IRS and ended up oweing $2000 so i got this great idea,if i dont file,i wont owe.In 1985 5 years later, afraid of loosing what i put together i contacted a lawyer, and we went to court. There was no jail time, nothing like that, but I had to file a 5 year tax return, and there was a $20000 fine.Never thought id ever get that paid off.before i was dismissed from court, the judge asked why I did this?I said without a smile,I didnt like what the government was doing with my tax money,he said i wasnt the only one,but that isnt a reason to do what i did and if it werent for my lawyer, and turning myself in,i could have been doing jail time.so ,i feel real lucky, and i make sure i file every year. But i still dont like where my money goes.My fuel tax money doesnt go in the roads, maybe the parks, the bike trails, but not the roads and as far as my income tax,who know where that goes.

Steve,

I wish I had a pair like you. Bravo! You get a trillion stars for that testimony. Glad you didn't do prison time. My uncle did the same thing under the same principle but he went to prison. What an ironic way to spend tax payer's dollars! We send him to prison as an example but we end up spending tax payer's money to keep him there.

RatWell, we elect people to represent us. We even elect people to elect the president for us. When I went to school we were taught that we were a representitive republic. We elect those who are to represent us in a democratic election. They now teach that we are a democracy. The two systems are not the same. It has been way too long and I don't even remember the definition of a true democracy. Layoutshooter

Layoutshooter,

I have to say that I would rather be represented by my peers just like the Judicial system allows. I cannot see how a bunch of rich people in Congress would have my best interest in mind. Now my mind would be changed if I won the lotto. LOL. Then they would be a true representation of what I am.

Anyway, I can never state this enough: I want a government by the People, for the People, and through the People. Now I have sent numerous letters to my three Missouri representatives on some concerns of mine and you can guess they never were answered. You might say they are sooooo busy that they have staff to answer these concerns, right? Well, I say do what you are paid to do. The working man/woman has been the backbone of this country and we deserve answers to important issues concerning not only me but the whole nation.

I am a solution oriented person not someone that likes promises or excuses.

O'Bama preaches change as he did when he participated in the Million Man March. I say change can only happen if we change the whole political system and that means firing them all and putting some honest people in there. Getting rid of the political parties because all they do is cause separation in this nation. When is the last time you voted solely based on what the person was bringing to the table to debate rather than the label of republican or democrat? They should be paid for their accomplishments and if they don't have any then they don't get paid. Get rid of all those hands out of our tax money and start using them for the good of the People. Invest in People not War. That is my stand.

Now with those that have short fuses please read twice before answering.

I want our government to follow our constitution. I ALWAYS vote on issues, not party. I have NEVER voted for a person that I wanted to be president and will not this time. I will vote for the least rotten of the bunch. None of them are qualified. I don't like socialists. They are all socialists except for Obama, I think he is an outright communist. I believe in the free market, low taxes and little government. I want to know how much force these goobers are willing to use to turn us into a socialsit utopia. Obama preaches peace but I bet he will be willing to kill people here to enforce his changes. Why would he have too? Because millions of us do not want to live in the slavery called socialism. I refuse to pay the crippling taxes. I refuse to toe the party line. I will not give in to them. I spent 20 years of my life trying to protect this nation from these very evils. Old habits die hard. I was born a free man and will die one. Layoutshooter

Thanks Dave, you are right. It is being a man. I spent 10 years on a couple of volunteer fire and ambulance companies. There were men and women there who I often put my life in there hands and there's in mine. Good hard working people. I bet they "cling" to thier religion and guns too. I wish I felt that I could put my life in the hands of our politions. If I did I think my life would be cut really short. Layoutshooter

Layoutshooter,

You get to say whatever you want even if it pees me off. It is your right!

It is not every day that you meet someone that is not a "Yes Man". I appreciate those that go against the grain.
