Trucking Hours of Service | Truck Driver Regulations on Hours of Service

While professional truck drivers, trucking companies, shippers and businesses view themselves as the losers based on the court’s decision, the biggest loser in the end may be the FMCSA itself. The agency has many capable and excellent people who are skilled professionals dedicated to improving safety. Yet, in the case of the HOS rule, politics, rather than logic and sound science, seems to have won out.

I like the part where they say

That's the silver lining. It's all a royal pita and I'm sure it's putting a little downward pressure on weekly earnings but I'm equally sure it's putting upward pressure on hourly earnings. Reducing the number of people that think they'd like to try earning their living behind the wheel should provide a little more upward pressure on earnings too. In the long run, it might just work in our favor.

But that said, I hate the new 34 hour restart rules. It's insane and it makes us less safe imho.

I don't see rates going up. I have only seen them remain static or falling. If the last 3 days are any sign, they are dropping like a ROCK! Seen FAR too many really poor paying load offers. Paying less than poor loads did 8 years ago, INCLUDING FSC.

I meant as a calculation, I didn't mean that any of us actually punch a clock! It's a simple calculation of how much you're making on a load divided by how many hours it you're investing in that load.

You can get all stressed out if you choose, it's a free country. But keep this in mind - the more they make our jobs harder, the fewer people there are willing to do our jobs. Simple supply and demand dictates that we'll make more money. We're equipped to handle the extra aggravation due to the calluses we've acquired. Can you imagine someone new to this business trying to get his head around the new hos rules? I pity the fool.

I'm not saying that the amount of force generated by their making our jobs harder is greater than the amount of force generated by 35 years of globalization and Reaganomics, I'm just saying that it should have a postiive effect, acting in our favor. It might only slow the rate of decline in rates, but I hope that's not the case.

I am doing OKEE DOKEE. I had a crap job when I came into this business, 8 years ago. IF I feel the need to get out of it, I will do good at what ever I decide to do. I am still young, only 62, I am NOT an Obama type bum, I WORK! Ifin this don't work, the next thing will!

I am just exploring, no point in putting all my hooks in one tackle box!

Nope, not depressing, just how it is. WE can get through this just fine. Maybe not as drivers, but those willing to work will always come out on top.

Maybe we can start a school, teaching city wimps what the real world is about. We can make them kill their own food, clean it, cook it, WHAT FUN! We could be professional ridiculers!

Has not done anything? Killed a border patrol agent. Killed a bunch at an embassy. Smuggled guns into Mexico. All on his watch, all under his control. All his fault. The buck stops with him.

As to Carter, don't get me started on that useless bum. HE KNEW what was going down when we lost that embassy and hung those people out to dry! I knew about 20 people who were in that Embassy at the time. I KNOW what happened. I KNOW that Rockin Ronnie kept up with the cover up too.

Obama is a Marxist. I HATE everything that is Marxism. It is a system for the weak of mind, body and spirit. I have no use for socialized medicine. I have no use for those who would grant citizenship to criminal invaders, regardless of the country they slithered in from.

Obama is a slimy cull dog. In the old days of dog training a trainer would have considered him an "Egg sucker". There is no lower form of dog than an egg sucker.
