As far as the rape, murder, etc... I can't agree with you there. Yes, there may have been instances of it happening - mostly out of frustration of knowing they were in a bad war - it was not common. I would never plaster that on the whole of the service. For the most part, these are honorable men and women. They just don't understand whom they REALLY serve.

Yup ..... no may about it ....

The thing is, the services and the political elites (to include some in the media) have gotten a lot smarter in this respect since Vietnam ... the services largely control access to the battlefield for the American media .... and many in the media fail to pursue telling the truth ..... they know who they are beholden to for access ....

Of course, this is the case not only for the military ..... but for government generally ...

As a consequence of that, the American people don't receive an accurate accounting of what is really going on - which of course, is necessary for any real understanding and to hold political leaders accountable ....

Instead, they get lies and propaganda - with any who fail to follow the state's (fraudulent) narrative being labelled as unpatriotic at best ..... potential enemies at worst ...

And most Americans show very little interest in knowing (particularly with regard to the military) .... it's much easier that way .... afterall: ignorance is bliss ......

mostly out of frustration of knowing they were in a bad war - it was not common.

In terms of the whole, I'd venture to say it's not "common" - but I'd also say that it probably becoming more common than it ever used to be .....

There's a lot of factors that go into that ..... why it is ...

I would never plaster that on the whole of the service.

Neither would I ..... but there is the reality of the fact, that when one becomes a part of something (willingly or unwillingly) one is, to some degree, responsible (and accountable) for it .....

For the most part, these are honorable men and women.

Yes, they are ..... in fact, I'd say almost all of them certainly start out that way ...... but there's just something that happens (to many, but not all) when you allow yourself to buy into the premise that it's ok to kill your fellow man ..... particularly on the mere say-so of someone else ....

They just don't understand whom they REALLY serve.

Don't spend much time on the CB ..... and usually when I do it's to inquire about info (stopped traffic, etc.) ...... and I'm polite and courteous (believe it or not )

I will admit that there's been a time or two where I've had some choice words for a driver after say ..... being run off the road and almost killed ...

Most of the time I just let it slide tho' .....

My store is open 6 days a week...from 10 til 6 or so.....and I am right here during those times. Many people have gotten within an inch of my nose during a heated disagreement who wish they hadn't of done it......Trust me on that.
