GETTING OUT OF LAREDO

Any of you recently take a load to Laredo and get a load back out? I have a truck there now and we're trying to decide whether to leave them there for a day or so, or to just bite the bullet and deadhead them up to Houston or Dallas. What do you all think? Our carrier hasn't been any help at all. I appreciate any of your input!

Who's your carrier?

Was in Laredo two weeks ago. Two dry runs, then a load to Dallas and up to Milwaukee. Lately, Laredo is the place to get loaded in TX.

Fed Ex Custom Critical. I hope my guys have as good of luck as you did. They'd be real happy to get anything out of there. Thanks for your input.

Wingnut hi If you have a truck setting there on friday I'd have them leave. But thats just me because most of the loads come out on friday.I was with FedExCC before I got sick and I was In a "DR" unit and we always got out of Laredo pretty quick and most loads were not refer loads hardly any we just got lucky...Also Monday's use to be pretty hot freight days also...GOOD LUCK BUDDY...

Thanks guys. I originally kinda thought that I'd have them just suck it up and go to Houston but was having second thoughts. Houston and Dallas have always been great areas to get out of, even on a weekend. I was just hoping that they'd get a load outta the Lareado area to help with the fuel cost. They decided to wait till morning then head up towards Dallas. I surely do appreciate all your help!!

My driver is on the way to Laredo delivering 9am monday mornining. Laredo is usually ok if there aren't many vans.

Plenty of loads coming out of there. I would tell your carrier to look alittle harder.

What we do is make the decision on Friday to stay in Laredo or move. Do not move on Monday morning! You have trucks pouring into Texas with Monday morning deliveries. If you are going to move do it on the weekend so you are number one on the board Monday morning. We have had some really good loads out of Laredo the last few times we have been south. We will also be in south Texas on Monday morning.

We wouldn't go to Dallas either. I'd rather try Houston, the last few times we were in Dallas we sat for days and had to DH home to TN both times. The last time in Dallas we were first in line and we kept getting skipped over. Have to be a great paying load to help on the DH out of there, before we ever go back to Dallas.

Have to go along with Night. I never wait 10 min. in Laredo unless I am the only truck. I first check the Houston board and if it is light I can be on the board in 5 hours. We get loads out of Laredo every day but we have many more trucks inbound then outbound.
The carrier you are with makes a big difference also. Panther works on flat rate so the load out of Laredo pays the same per mile as a load out of Houston, I Think? Correct me if I am wrong.
As far as FECC I find the rates to run 30-40c a mile higher out of Houston, so anything over 1000 miles would easily make up for the 350 mile d/h from Laredo, even if you did it for free.
I would first try calling planning for a relocation load at 50-70c a mile if not that, then authorized d/h at the 35c and if not authorized I just go anyway.
As far as Dallas, the trouble there is the 10 or so LG loads every day. Most are under 500 miles and go west or south.
A Sunday noon check of the express centers shows no C or D's in Laredo, San Antonio or Harlingen. So staying in Laredo you would probably get out Monday. The Dallas board is showing 2 c's and 8 d's, Yuk. Houston only has 1 c so I would be rollin to Houston. Good luck
