Okay time to measure your fuel mileage, what is it? This one is for "C" and "D" units please. If your very high or low, tell us how or why.

9.7 running in a 280 HP MB, could have done better but I was always in a hurry, and ran the speed limit.

We were so excited we just had one fill with 11.01 mpg! Maybe all of our fuel mileage improvements are finally working for us.

I am getting only 8.5 in my D unit. I have all new tires, cinetramatics and air pressure stabilizers. Have ordered the air tabs. I think running single without a Qualcom puts me into situations sometime were I have to drive longer between breaks and at times meet or exceed the speed limit.
This has a major impact on my mileage. It is however my doing in most cases as I live anywhere from 1 1/2 hrs to 4 hours from my loading points. This cuts down on time of delivery. This is from me staying at home when I get close due to my wife's illness. I have a C-9 cat that is not known for great mileage to begin with. I am hanging on and hope things get better soon. Things have been really slow for me the past 10 days.

Jack,

Didn't you say you had a recent 11.5mpg?

I have an E450 cube van w/ a V10. I used to average about 9.2, but recently I've been slowing down and just doing anywhere from 58 to 62 mph. I've been watching my acceleration as well. I paid special attention to meaure my fillup, and lo and behold, it came out 11.5 Probably won't average that high all the time, but it felt nice that day.

Is that poll looking for overall avg, best ever single fill, summer blend only, winter blend only, including APU usage or estimated without, based on a single engine make or trans type or something else? I presume you want the overall avg combining all factors in which case I'll go with 8.5 as the closest.

That's what I did Leo. I have at times gotten 9.6 and one time 9.8. But, sadly this is not an everyday occurrence. My overall average is 8.5.

Overall for the year, would be the best.

We drive the "beast", but since we've slowed down we're averaging 7.4. That includes running the generator, and reefer time.

Robsdad how are you getting 8.5 miles in a D unit. Maybe I'm confused but isn't D unit the 18 wheeler? Do you have an APU? How heavy are your loads on average? What part of the country do you mostly run? How fast do you drive? Do you have an automatic transmission or manual...how many speeds? I drive a 2004 Volvo with a Cummins 450 hp (might be governed at 425) engine and Eaton Fuller 10 speed autoshift. I average around 6.4 miles per gallon which doesn't include my idling. I'm governed at 65 MPH So my average speed is around 55 miles per hour when heavy.

We run a 450 MBE with a Eaton/Fuller 10sp auto-shift. The worst we have ever got was 7.5mpg. We were loaded VERY heavy with strong head winds. The best was 11.7!!! Running VERY light and at 57 mph. So it seems we should run empty and slow!!!

anybody else

Anyone else ....what???

Oh..... 10.5 overall average

9.5 if I am running through the mountains

8.5 if I am running hard and heavy - +8000lbs (don't laugh) and 68 MPH

3.5 to 4.5 if I idle the thing through the night for more than two days (48 hours at a gallon an hour) Had to do this last year in Chicago where it was -10 all day long for three days

subtract a half mile to a mile if I use the reefer - depending on if I cross the desert with it running below 45 or if I am using it for paint at 75

I will have more accurate numbers once I can get the computer working with the ECM a little better.
