I cant see it as a "right", but I do know people who's only phone is the free phone. Elderly, disabled, etc... who have to choose electicity over a phone... the free phones (only 250 minutes a month here) give them much needed security.

My niece and her "whatever" (don't know if they ever got married) who do NOTHING to support themselves, have 3 kids who they refuse to support, have THREE Obama phones.

They are not disabled, elderly etc.

I have NO problem helping out those elderly and disabled people who are in REAL need, but I am very tired to subsidizing laziness and bums.

Back in 2009 the State of MA toyed with the idea of providing cars for welfare people. I don't know where that ever went but just the idea is beyond belief.

When is our government ever going to drop socialism as it's main form of economics and get back to the idea that the individual is responsible for themselves? We, as a people, have a RIGHT to choose our path and SHOULD live with the results of our own choices. It is not the governments job to "fix" stupidity" or "laziness". Charity is private and personal and "charity by force" is just plain wrong

If you do the research you may find that some of the conservative republicans in Congress voted for the funding of this program and a few other things that are not talked about. Mainly the problem is not just liberals but conservatives pandering to the welfare class.

There are few, if any, "conservatives" in congress. It does not matter what you call yourself, your actions are what you are.

As I have said on many occasions, there is little if any difference between the Dumb-O-Crats and the ReBumLiCans. I support neither.

I read somewhere and can't remember where, that TV is a right and how unfair it is, that some people can't afford cable.

What is wrong with you people???? You can't find it in your heart to help your fellow man?? I mean it is about spreading the wealth around...you know, you have it, share it...are you that greedy and small that you would deprive those less fortunate then you from having what you have...I mean they have a right ...a right to a cell phone, cable tv service, internet connections, 24 inch wheels for their welfare Caddy SUV...food stamps and medical care...oh and a education and child care and a monthly check....why would you feel upset because you work to provide for them???

Oh i forgot...free birth control for welfare women now....totall free..the whole $8-$10 a month...well maybe its a step in the right direction...but o you really think $8-$10 bucks a month was what was stopping women from taking BC pills???...

many woman that do not take BC that know no other way of live then welfare know another kid means a bigger check next month:mad:

I'd rather see us paying for birth control NOT CELL PHONES!!!..preventive medicine....lot cheaper for a pills than 18 + yrs. on the public doll...I believe the government should pay for a obortions too...nip the problem in the butt...

not calling any one stupid just the idea that the government should pay for abortions too!!While we are at it why not let them decide Who gets aborted and who dont.I can see it know no more republicans are allowed to have children!!!!!

Let's be careful not to stray into the area of direct personal attacks, even by surrogates.

Rather than abortions they should tie the tubes of women and do vasectomies on men opting for welfare as well as cap any benefits to the number of children at time of application.
