Found A Truck

I want to thank EO and all of you that gave me information to find a truck. I got a 1998 Volvo VNL64T610 , M11 Cummins 370 HP, Rockwell 10 Speed, Tandem Axle, 22"box, 595K, For $27,500. I will be picking it up next week. So A Big Thanks to all of you for your Emails and information. EO works for everyone....Drive Safely....Butch

That sounds like a great class 8'er for that price! Volvo makes a really good truck, and the M11 Cummins is a workhorse. I think the ten speed trannies are about ideal for D unit straight trucks, and those tandems will give you a lot of weight capacity and versatility.

Yes This is the Red Landstar one on Truck Paper. Sleeper is a Single bed, Just right for me, I'm a solo driver. Don't know much about sleepers in class 8 trucks. It's raised roof design. I think it will be just fine. Thanks again to all who have helped me get back into Expediting. I really missed it, and can't wait to get back on the road. Drive Safely...Butch

I got the 99 version of the same truck only a few months ago and it has been a workhorse. It has the Detroit Diesel 60 series engine and gets about 10 mpg. Mine was a little more expensive though and that's due to the reefer and insulated box. Good luck and enjoy that truck!

:-( :-( :-( Well Drivers, Bad News for me Good News for someone in market for a nice truck. I had to back off buying the Volvo, for Business reasons, I can't see the cost to go pick it up as opposed to buying something closer to home. It figures out to be upwards of a $1000.00 and 5 days, to make that trip. It's almost 1500 miles from me. So if anyone is interested in the Volvo, its in Truckpaper.com. I really hated to have to let this Go. But money is where its at In Expediting, and thats My decision. Sad day In Michigan...Butch

THawk, Larry, Thanks so much for you help, and concern. Yes it is a very nice truck for the money, but it was a decision that I put a lot of thought to. I have found a nice truck here in my area. Its not a Class 8, but a very nice FL70 for the money. Its clean and well maintained, and the price was to good to pass up. I have looked at some real abused trucks in the past few weeks. This will get me back into Business, until Neverhome comes home and lets me know when his truck will be For Sale. That is my Dream Truck!!!! I would put a driver in this FL70 and buy Neverhomes truck for myself..Oh well I'm rambling now. Thanks again to all of you who gave Great advise. Be Safe Be Happy...Butch

OH SUUUUURE... let the DRIVER take the Freightshaker!!!LOL Only two things those are good for... narcolepsy and prostate problems!

Whatever you do, don't have teams run in those trucks. Torture, I tell ya. I hafta say 106s are better than the 70s and 80s... but I'd rather go with a Kenworth anyday. Just too bad they don't make alot of them. And they hold their value alot better to boot.

Invest about $150 or so in the Roho AirHawk seat cushion and your prostate will remain active. The only time my 1953 FL70 beats me up is on I 10 and I 20 in LA.Arkansas used to be bad but is improving.

I won't have that prob as I refuse to drive em again. With teams being more profitable, I hate either my co-driver or me waking up and yelling," IS THERE SOMEWHERE YOU CAN PULL OVER???" That'll happen in any vehicle at times, but that should be the Freightshaker's slogan! :7

Well Guys and Gals, The FL-70 deal went Sour, and boy am I ever Glad it did. I was forced to go back to the Classifieds On EO, and I found what is so close to my Dream Truck,I couldn't believeit. It was an old ad. (NOV.2004) I took a chance and called. I now have a Done Deal, on a 1999 T-300 Kenworth. Check it out. I will be in Oreintation at Express-1 Feb/07/05. Check it Out.
