Not completely sure yet Paul. In a nut shell I will explaine what I see so far. I think it is connected to Google somehow if not built by them??
World wide game in real time..
2 factions..You choice which one to align yourself with...
Your faction deploys portals and destroys the other sides portal...
You defend your portal by setting out some sort of defense. Your defensive items will come from other portal's that you hack...
I believe other member's of your faction can support/defend your portals with upgrades.. Meaning if you come across a portal that's low or beat up you can add to its defense.
When you hack another factions portal you will pick up weapons and other items needed. Once you start a hack you come under fire from the portals and any other portals linked to it.
From what I gather these portals and linking can become very complicated. As you build a portal and link other portals the become stronger. Linking is done in the shape of triangles and insides those triangles are more portals that are linked.. Can become very complicated to build as you can imagine how many triangles can be built inside. It would take mathematician to figure it out with a lot of planning. And that maybe why that college campus kicked my butt so bad and fast.
To survive a attack you need to be able to get out of range of the portal and rethink your attack..
As I said in another post I think this is set up to get you out and about walking around. There are missions that can you take you on treks for miles that cover entire city's. Its up to you how much you want to put into it I guess.. I'm looking at it as something to do once the weather become nice again and something that will get me out of the truck.
Or it all can just be a social experiment. There is a story line involved with it but I haven't followed it...Right now I just trying to blow up the other faction.

Lots of good, free fun! We keep a bag of trinkets in the truck and have found a lot placed in rest areas and near truck stops. Its also a blast watching the grandkids find one, plus gets them out from in front of the tv! Geocaching.com is full of info and has a free app for smart phones.
Ok I've deployed an resonator. Hack 2 something's, and visited 2 unique portals which I have no idea what or when I visited

Lol.. Go to that YouTube link and start from there. There is a couple other videos. Not sure how long I'll stick with it it but it does kind of peak my interest.
Keep in mind to open the portal google has to approve it. And that could take a week or two before it will be activated. Google wants you to use points of interest. For now I'm just looking for what I can blowup. As silly as it looks its not that easy.

If anyone is playing, that Army reserve unit in Marysville needs to be finished off or rebuilt depending on what faction your with.. I hit it hard last night after I got loaded but they fought back and took everything I had. The Portal is near the side door entrance. Really surprised no one bothered me as I drove right up to the door..Took about half hour to get my butt kicked but I left it in ruins but not destroyed.

Anyone playing this game called Ingress? Just got a new phone over the weekend and it came on the phone. I think its a Google game of sorts.. Don't know a lot about it but in a nut shell...
All around the world ppl are dropping buoys (so to speak) its your job to locate then destroy and take em over leaving your name there.. This is a real time game. Looks interesting and requires walking to find and destroy. I just happened to open the app to look at it and it located several buoys with walking distance of where I am sitting...I tried it but got to cold to completely figure it out..(6degree)
Besides that I was starting to worry about the local police wondering why I was waving my phone around a office complex..
Ive never heard of it, but imam download it right now.

I am surprised how active this game is...In the the beginning I thought it might not hold my interest.You really need to stay on top of things or the other team will tear em down.. Its confusing at first but once ya work your way up thru level one you will have a fairly good handle on it.
I have level three now and visited/hacked into 123 unique portals... Work it at your own pace..
As I said before leave the game alone while driving. If your moving in a vehicle you don't have time to do anything anyways, you pass the portal to fast..

Not bad for a few short weeks of playing this game.. Should be up to level 5 any day now. Got my granddaughter playing and just got to help her level up then I will have someone to walk the missions with. Some interesting stuff we drive by or sit near everyday and wouldn't know its there including your Home town.
4 hours to pick- up.. Off to blow up Evansville In.

Hack everything you come across from either faction.. Not only does it give you more weapons but that's one of the fastest ways to level up in points. If you want to attack a portal check its status first.. Hit the deploy status and that will show you the strength of the portal... If nobody maintains the portal it will lose about 15%/in strength each day...Look for these ones until ya get the hang of attacking them..
Those little green bars ya see show the strength of each resonator deployed on this portal.. They are at full strength don't attack one like this unless the bars are way down. Just hack it and move on..

Same portal...Showing how its linked to other portals.. Until you level up, a portal like this will hit ya hard..
Hack everything. It's referred to as farming, because all you are doing is building inventory of weapons and other items you need as well as points to level up..
